As someone who watches tons of makeup videos on various social media platforms, I’ve always been fascinated by its meticulous process. This is why I leave it to the experts when it comes to special events.
Fortunately, there are tons of talented makeup artists in Kuala Lumpur who allow me to get a total makeover after a quick phone call. However, I’ve also hired countless makeup artists in different parts of Malaysia over the years and I’m lucky enough to have met some of the best!

Alison, the founder of Amlicia Makeup Hair, immediately piqued our attention because she specialised in bridal makeup and hair. It also helped that her portfolio on her Instagram and website was easily accessible and gave us an idea of her quality of workmanship.
One of the things we love about Alison’s style is that she promotes natural beauty, applying makeup that compliments the client’s features. Furthermore, she can also apply her style based on the overall wedding theme, which we thought was pretty neat.
We also appreciate how she offers a trial for the bride for free in one of her packages. This way, the bride-to-be can get an idea of what she’ll look like on her big day.
However, we do feel like their services are a bit limited, as she only caters to weddings and pre-wedding events. If she is what you need them for though, then you’ll be getting the best value for your money.

Jo and her team specialises in bridal makeup and her works captivated us when we saw her on Pro Makeup Artist Malaysia’s website. She’s handled several clients before and has been in the industry for multiple years, which further solidified our confidence in her skills.
Speaking of skills, they were also highlighted by her previous clients, noting how efficient she was during their sessions. Furthermore, they also noted how flexible her style is, allowing her to cater to different types of wedding themes and facial/skin features.
We also like her personable attitude. Clients mentioned how this led to a much more warm and welcoming glam session with Jo.
What surprised us the most, however, is that she can also lend her hand in other services, one of which was cosplay. We’re in awe of the transformation pictures on her website, which consisted of fantasy-like makeovers.
The only downside? Jo and her team’s rates are higher than the usual. It isn’t surprising, though, given their expertise and track record.

With over 20 years of experience in the makeup industry, it’s a no-brainer to include Aivy Yong on this list. Aside from her tenure, what secured our confidence was her gallery, which featured all her previous works from several clients.
She’s mostly known for her wedding makeup packages, which include everything from bridal party blowouts to actual wedding day makeovers and everything in between.
Moreover, we were surprised to see that she also offered personal makeup and hairstyling services. She even offers a hairstyling course so clients can do their hair long after availing of her hairstyling package.
Also, from what we’ve heard from her previous clients during our interviews, Aivy is a great listener. Some highlighted her efforts to ask questions to learn more about their style ideas and execute the look based on their conversation.
One thing we wish she would do is provide a more in-depth description of her services on her website, as we felt like they’re a bit vague. Overall, Aivy Yong is a solid option for those looking for high-quality bridal blowout packages.

Josephine Woon founded Makeover Loft and has since been building up quite the resume with the number of clients she services every year. It’s impressive to see her works in her gallery online, as she can cater to different skin colours and types for her makeout and hairdo services.
Based on what her previous clients have to say, her experience is on full display during her sessions. When we observed her, we were at awe with how Josephine started mixing different colour palettes to get the right shade of eyeshadow for her skin tone.
Also, you can expect your skin to be in good hands, as she only uses big-name brands for her makeovers. These brands include Dior, Chanel, Mac and more.
One of the things we love about Josephine is her efforts to stay in the know of the trending styles, further varying the selection of styles she already has. Plus, it makes her works evergreen as her styles are always relevant.
The only downside to choosing her services is the above-average prices. It’s all worth it though if you think about the experience she brings to the table and the high-end brands they use to create her iconic looks.

Rynee Tan has been a makeup artist for more than 15 years so we figured that she’s one of the most eligible people to trust when it comes to makeovers. We aren’t alone in thinking this too, as several of her previous clients spoke highly of her services during our interview.
For instance, when we surveyed her past bridal clients, we noted that many were so happy with how Rynee executed their vision for their wedding. Plus, her methods are long-lasting, so they looked fresh even after the event.
One of the things that stood out to us about Rynee’s services was her overseas blowout. This package consists of her services along with a photographer to cover the event that the client is preparing for.
As for the downsides, the main one is that she mainly caters wedding-related events, which isn’t an issue if that’s the event you’re preparing for. Furthermore, we wish that she would put more in-depth descriptions of her services on her website.
