Everything You Need to Know about SkyCity in Shah Alam

As someone who lives for the thrills, I’m always impressed with the selection of amusement parks in KL and Selangor. For the longest time, Berjaya Times Square Theme Park has always been my go-to, but a new contender opened in 2024 in the form of SkyCity.

Found in Shah Alam’s Utropolis, i-City, this small but beautiful theme park offers exciting experiences 60 meters up in the sky! It’s a fun yet thrilling way to enjoy the lovely attractions (and views)!

So, if you’re looking for a fun-filled getaway without leaving the city or you’re simply looking for something new to do, you’ve come to the right place! Continue reading and discover everything you need to know about SkyCity before visiting.

Where is SkyCity?

SkyCity is located in Shah Alam’s famous i-City, the brightly lit “City of Digital Lights.” More specifically, it can be found at No. 6, Persiaran Multimedia, Seksyen 7, with Jalan Multimedia 7/Ah being its main access point.

How to Get to SkyCity

Self-drive: The easiest and most comfortable way to get to SkyCity is by self-driving since it can easily be accessed through different major highways such as GUTHRIE. KL offers various car rental companies that can provide you with a vehicle that would suit your needs.

Closest bus stop: The I City Park is the closest bus stop to SkyCity, as it’s located right in front of the attraction. This stop can be accessed via buses SA04, 705, SA01, and others, which you can check on the official websites of Rapid KL and Smart Selangor.

Closest train station: The nearest train station is Padang Jawa KTM, which is approximately 3.8 km away. Upon departing here, we recommend taking a taxi or booking a Grab ride, both of which will take around eight minutes.

Grab: This ride-hailing app is readily available in Shah Alam, and it’s one of the most convenient ways to get to SkyCity. It also has the advantage of providing a fixed price before booking a ride, as opposed to riding a taxi.

If you’re visiting SkyCity, chances are you’re there to conquer its famous 600-metre glass slide. Its sheer scale is enough to entice adrenaline-seekers, as its length would take around a minute to complete—that’s 60 full seconds of screaming!

What makes it even more exciting is its swirling architecture, which means you’ll experience quick turns left and right! Oh, and we forgot to mention that this is a water slide, so you’ll be picking up ridiculous speeds from your float.

Lastly, the slide becomes even more magical at night when it’s lit up with vibrant, colourful lights, making the experience that much crazier.

Catch stunning views at the observation deck

Pricing: Included in glass slide tickets

Before going down the longest and first glass slide of Malaysia, we recommend taking the time to bask in the views from the observation deck. It’s the best vantage point for admiring Shah Alam’s skyline, and the best part is that you won’t have to pay extra!

The views here are stunning, as they won’t be obstructed by anything. In fact, the floor is glass as well, so you’ll truly enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view.

The tower (and slide) is open all day long, but we recommend visiting during nighttime! This way, you can enjoy both the tower’s and the skyscraper’s twinkling lights.

Wait for the vibrant show at the City of Digital Lights

Pricing: Free

You can visit i-City without spending a penny and still enjoy a beautiful light show! All you have to do is stop by at nighttime and watch as the trees light up with different-coloured LED lights!

During this time, you can also find rides such as the iconic two-tiered carousel that lights up beautifully among the sea of LEDs. We also love stopping by the Superswing and Spacewalk rides, as they’re also treated with the same decked-out bulbs.

If you’re looking for the most magical spot, however, stop by the Mist Fountain. Here, the lights will be blurred out in thick fog, transporting you to a scene ripped straight out of a fairy tale.

Experience snow in Malaysia at SnoWalk

Pricing:

  • Malaysian:
  • Adult: RM63
  • Children/senior citizens: RM53
  • Non-Malaysian:

If you’ve always wanted to experience a winter experience akin to feel-good holiday movies but trapped in a tropical country, SnoWalk should be on your itinerary. It mimics countries such as Canada by offering an indoor snow-filled playground.

Numerous photo opportunities can be found here, including igloos and gingerbread houses. However, our favourite thing to capture here is the artificial Aurora lights.

It’s not just a place for sightseeing either, as it also offers tons of activities, one of which is sliding. These slides take the form of those slopes found in ski resorts, and they’ll give you that quick jolt of adrenaline.

Cool down at WaterWorld

Pricing:

  • Malaysian:
  • Adult: RM38
  • Children/senior citizens: RM33
  • Non-Malaysian:
  • Adult: RM48

A visit to i-City would be a shame if you don’t get a chance to stop by WaterWorld, especially if you visit during summertime! This massive waterpark is one of the most fun family destinations in the city, offering massive pools, thrilling slides, and an aquatic playground!

The wave pool is one of the main stars of the show here, offering a mildly exaggerated simulation of ocean waves. It also features inflatable islands and floats that will allow you to get swept!

Of course, you can’t leave without trying the tornado slide, which is this waterpark’s version of a cyclone. If you’re looking to experience something more fast, however, we recommend the rainbow slide!

Uncle Luo should be one of your choices if you’re looking for authentic and traditional Chinese noodles at affordable prices. We also love how they incorporate Malaysian flavours and techniques with their dishes.

One of our favourite items from their menu is the dry porkchop, which pairs perfectly with any of their noodles—plus, it comes with nuts, corn, and shredded cucumbers. Speaking of noodles, they’re all perfectly springy, making them all the more satisfying to slurp.

As for the soup selection, we recommend the traditional bone broth the most because of its rich flavours. Plus, it’s not too in your face like the spicy tomato broth, allowing for a better blend of flavours.

We mainly love the seafood marinara pasta because of its generous serving of tiger prawns, shrimp and blue mussels. If you were to go for the creamy and cheesy route, however, you have to order their Italliannies Carbonara signature.

Italliannies is also a fantastic spot for the family because kids can also get their favourite slice of pizza. They offer classic flavours like Hawaiian and Pepperoni—plus, they’re all perfect for sharing!

You can also get one of their rice meals if you’re looking for something heavier. Our favourite is their chicken karaage bowl, as we love the combination of fragrant rice, crispy chicken popcorn, and Japanese mayo!

The place itself is highlight-worthy because it looks and feels like those traditional ramen bars in Japan, complete with wooden furniture and a minimalistic interior. Lastly, we recommend this place because they don’t add service charges!

NALE – The Nasi Lemak Company is the best place to visit near SkyCity for local Malay cuisine cravings. As you may have gleaned from its name, this place specialises in the country’s national dish, nasi lemak, and they offer it in various kinds!

As much as we’re huge fans of their variety, however, their classic nasi lemak holds a special place in our hearts. It stays true to the cookbook by offering all the fix-ins, from the fragrant rice to the nuts, anchovies, sambal, etc.

If you’re feeling fancy, however, we recommend their nasi lemak salmon or lamb shank! Both feature amazing tender textures as well as a whole different layer of flavour.
