9 Mac and Cheese Spots in Malaysia That Hit That Cheesy Spot
Mac and cheese is one of those dishes that never gets old, especially for someone like me with toddler taste buds, as my friends would say. It’s hard to find a fault with this dish, from its gooey cheese, soft macaroni, and sometimes, crushed bacon!
Whenever I see a restaurant in Malaysia (malaysian restaurants malaysia) offering mac and cheese, you can bet that I’ll order it! I must say, however, that I’ve been disappointed more than I could count, but those that didn’t, definitely earned special spots in my memories.
So, if you’re looking for restaurants in Malaysia that can hit that cheesy spot, you’ve come to the right place! I’ve eaten at some of the best places that offer it, and listed why they’re worth trying out below.
Pizza Mansion Jalan Mesui – Kuala Lumpur

Address: 25, Jln Mesui, Bukit Bintang
Contact details: +60 11-2309 2293
Operating hours: Daily from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Known as one of the hottest pizza spots in Kuala Lumpur, Pizza Mansion isn’t afraid to break the mould with its offerings. For starters, it offers a fantastic truffle mac and cheese that perfectly adds a hint of earthiness and luxuriousness to the classic comfort food.
Come Ramadan, the chefs will also whip up something special like rendang mac and cheese to treat those who are breaking fast. As for their classic mac and cheese, they’re as textbook as they come, featuring mozzarella, Gouda, and aged cheddar.
Dining here is a treat as well, because aside from the wide variety of freshly baked pizza from its custom brick oven, the restaurant features a chill and cosy ambience. More specifically, we recommend getting a table at their laid-back al fresco area!
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for a more compact version of mac and cheese, you can get it in its deep-fried and bite-sized form! This is the perfect side to get if you’re visiting with friends and planning on sampling multiple pizza flavours.
Humble Chef Malaysia – Petaling Jaya

The best thing about mac and cheese is that it doesn’t have to be expensive to taste good, and Humble Chef Malaysia proves this spectacularly. With the stringiest cheese pulls and delicate macaroni shells, this restaurant’s mac and cheese quickly became one of our go-tos.
Furthermore, we love how you can customise your mac and cheese here by adding meat, such as chicken, spicy tuna, beef, lamb, etc. Alternatively, you can opt for a vegetarian version, which doesn’t make it any less of a mac and cheese!
The mac and cheese barely scratches the surface of what this place has to offer, as it also serves a wide variety of sandwiches and pasta. You can enjoy all these, and more, from the comfort of their sleek yet straightforward interior.
Pro tip:
End your meal on a sweet note by ordering a slice of their panda coco tart! If you’re coming with a group, however, the box of chocolate bonbons may be the better option.
Yellow Brick Road – Kuala Lumpur

Address: The Five @ KPD, Lot A-GF-03
Contact details: +60 19-270 0304
Operating hours: Daily from 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM

The Yellow Brick Road is one of the most Insta-worthy cafes in KL that offers amazing mac and cheese. Although it can only be found in the kids’ menu, it doesn’t feature children’s portions, and can easily satisfy one adult!
It’s also made to cater to kids’ taste buds, which we personally think is how this dish should be made. From its richness to its creaminess, everything is nailed to a tee, and the best part is that it has torched shredded cheese on top, making it satisfyingly stretchy!
Aside from mac and cheese, Yellow Brick Road Cafe offers a myriad of brunch staples, from pancakes to eggs on toast, pasta, etc. Personally, we’re huge fans of their “Green-Eyed Monster” pancakes because of their delicious Biscoff spread and coconut cream.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for a quick boost in the morning that isn’t filled with caffeine, we recommend getting one of their fresh smoothies!
Hot Bird – Petaling Jaya

Address: 83 Ground Floor, Jalan SS 21/1a
Contact details: +60 12-399 7835
Operating hours:
Cost: $$
If spicy food is what you desire with your mac and cheese, then Hot Bird should be right up your alley! As you may have gleaned from its name, this spot specialises in spicy fried chicken, but we also want to shine the spotlight on their mac and cheese.
For starters, it’s extremely creamy, which is something that’s missing from usual mac and cheeses, forcing them to be on the sidelines. Plus, with its cheesy and rich flavour, it helps to combat the sometimes overwhelming spice levels of the fried chicken!
Don’t get it twisted, though, as this fried chicken will be the main reason you visit this place because of their perfectly crunchy skin and well-marinated meat. You can also get their chicken sandwich, which uses a juicy and crispy thigh as the patty!
Pro tip:
Aside from the mac and cheese, don’t miss out on their loaded fries for your sides! Alternatively, you can also get their creamy coleslaw to help cleanse your palate after biting into their spicy chicken.
GravyBaby – Melaka

Operating hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

GravyBaby is a fantastic option if you’re looking to enjoy your mac and cheese in a lively pub setting, complete with an open bar with beer on tap. It’s also a great date spot, thanks to its laid-back al-fresco area that overlooks the Malacca River.
Although you wouldn’t typically think of ordering mac and cheese on a date, GravyBaby’s version will make you think otherwise. It’s elegantly served on a cast-iron skillet, all while it’s still bubbling with gooey cheese—and it tastes just as good as it looks!
If you want to add more spice, you can also order one topped with buffalo chicken pieces. You can also try their other popular Western and Tex-Mex delicacies, such as tacos, cheeseburgers, and hot diggidy dogs!
Pro tip:
Stop by on Tuesdays to enjoy their two-for-one deals for their steak and chicken dishes! Meanwhile, you can visit on their Mexican Mondays to get slashed rates on their tacos and three-for-two deals on tequila.
CHUBS – Kota Kinabalu

Address: Plaza Shell, Jln Tunku Abdul Rahman
Contact details: +60 16-227 1839
Operating hours: Daily from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Cost: $$
If there’s one thing that mac and cheese go perfectly well with, it’s grilled food! The char and smokiness of grilled meat, whether it be beef, pork, or chicken, complements the richness and cheesiness of mac and cheese, especially when it’s prepared the way CHUBS does it.
CHUBS separates its mac and cheese from others by featuring grilled pork in the mix along with some scallions, for a burst of flavour in every bite. Personally, we love pairing this with their cheesy chicken fondue for the ultimate creamy feast!
We also recommend CHUBS because of its beautiful industrial interior decor, which is the perfect setting for biting into meaty burgers and perfectly grilled steaks. Plus, it features an impressive wine selection that’s both for show and taste!
Pro tip:
Don’t miss out on their signature fall-off-the-bone sticky ribs! They’re perfectly tender and flavourful, and best of all, they pair perfectly with mac and cheese.
Me’nate – Penang

Address: 20, Jln Sultan Ahmad Shah
Contact details: +60 4-227 7201
Operating hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
Cost: $$$
Me’nate may be known for their world-class steaks, but they’re also one of the best places to get mac and cheese in Penang. It’s given the same elegance as the other dishes on their menu, by featuring freshly grated parmesan cheese, creamy sauce, and garnishes.
We also love how they still incorporate steaks in their mac and cheese by adding streaky beef into the mix. The softness of the elbow macaroni is perfectly executed as well, as it’s not too soft but could still hold tons of cheese sauce.
Of course, you can’t leave this place without trying their steaks, especially their signature Wagyu. These cuts feature perfect marbling, whether it be striploin, tenderloin, ribeye, etc., and can be flavoured with either garlic sauce, mushroom, or black pepper gravy.
Pro tip:
Immerse yourself in Malaysian flavours by ordering their specialty milkshakes like apam balik and bandung pandan!
Don Western & Grill Cafe – Penang

Contact details: +60 12-302 0786

If you can’t decide whether to eat Western or local dishes and just want a good bowl of classic mac and cheese, Don Western & Grill Cafe will be your jam! For starters, it offers an impressively varied menu consisting of steaks and pasta, as well as local faves like nasi royale.
Their mac and cheese easily steals the spotlight out of all the pasta choices, mainly because of its presentation. It’s topped with creamy cheese sauce, grated parmesan cheese, and a healthy serving of turkey ham!
Lastly, we’d be doing you a disservice if we didn’t recommend their racks of lamb. These have hailed straight from New Zealand, and their gaminess is perfectly paired with mixed vegetables and mushroom sauce.
Pro tip:
Try their softshell crab burger if you want to add some seafood to the mix! Alternatively, you can get a platter of their clams if you’re visiting with a group.
Good Blue Men – Peatling Jaya
– Media credit: goodbluemen
Address: AG-01, Ground Floor, Block A
Contact details: +60 3-7499 7394
Operating hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM

We adore Good Blue Men not only for their mac and cheese but also because of their dedication to putting Asian spins on Western classics. The prime example of this is their sandwich selection, where you’ll find combinations like chicken thigh and Kam Heong sauce.
Furthermore, their mac and cheese is pure perfection, complete with crusted cheese layers, delicate elbow macaroni, and rich sauce. We also love how they’re served in the casserole that they’re baked in.
Lastly, since this is a cafe, you can’t leave without trying some of their signature beverages! For instance, if you’re a coffee person, make sure to try the cold brew and pair it with their burnt cheesecake.
Pro tip:
If you want to try something on the healthier side that doesn’t fall short on flavour, we recommend ordering their teriyaki chicken bowl, which comes complete with veggies!
