One of my college girlfriends is getting married this year and we’re already planning her a killer bridal shower. So we’ve been looking for beautiful spots where we can steal her away for a weekend to relax and relive some of our best memories.
We’re thinking of pulling out all the stops: spa treatments, manicures and pedicures, dancing around in bath robes to Taylor Swift, and so much more. We want a good mix of relaxation, adventure, and quality time.

KLoé Hotel is a boutique hotel perfect for creative people. They have cozy spaces designed for slow living and for a wide range of interests.
Aside from standard rooms that are good for long sleepovers, they have rooms that have artist’s studios stocked with art supplies, rooms with hi-fi consoles and curated vinyls, rooms with personal libraries filled with books on poetry and art, and so much more.
This is far from your typical staycation because it offers a safe space to pursue interests close to your heart, providing materials, and the serenity to just enjoy and create. KLoé Hotel is great for girls who are longing for reprieve from the city and who find doing art restful.
Aside from their interesting themed rooms, there are also a lot of great dining options here.
You can grab a coffee at the Lucky Coffee Bar. It’s inspired by neighborhood milk-bars and they serve cereal milk lattes, egg sandwiches, and avocado toast. At night, they also serve interesting cocktails such as Tom Yam on the Rocks, New York Sour, and Lime Margarita.

If you’re looking for a 5-star hotel with a fantastic location and amazing amenities, InterContinental KL is a good option.
It’s near the metro and is surrounded by many shopping and entertainment activities. The hotel even provides a complimentary shuttle service to Pavilion KL and Suria KLCC.
The beds are large and comfortable, and they have luxury bath amenities. We’re thinking luxuriously long bubble baths with a book in hand and some scented candles.
You can also relax and take a dip in their large outdoor pool, work out in the fitness center, or go for a well-deserved spa break with your girlfriends. There are plenty of fun activities to keep you busy here.
Aside from that, there are also a lot of great places to eat in-house, such as the Tao Chinese Cuisine, Tatsu Japanese Cuisine, Serena Brasserie, OneSixFive Lounge, and Bentley’s Pub.

Located ten minutes away from the city center, Villa Samadhi is a wonderful vacation spot for those who are too busy for long-term trips. This boutique hotel has a rustic feel to it, going for a resort-style experience.
Some interesting tidbits about Villa Samadhi are that it has an all-day breakfast. So you don’t need to wake up early to make the cut-off.
It also has a relaxing lagoon in the middle of the property, and is decorated with valuable antiques from all over the world. The vibe of the hotel is timeless, elegant, and classy.

If you plan to go bar and club hopping with your girlfriends and party the weekend away, you will need a good crash pad. Momo’s Kuala Lumpur is exactly that.
It’s a budget-friendly hotel with minimalist rooms that look modern, sleek, and warm. The rooms are also complete with 43-inch televisions with device casting, super comfortable beds, and get this, bespoke toiletries from Jeanie Botanicals.
The rooms are designed by Akin Atelier, a Sydney-based design studio with a positive and meaningful approach in their work, which we find awesome. The use of space is really intentional and everything looks tasteful.
Momo’s has a creative space called “The Playground” where various shows are held. There are DJ parties, exhibitions, poetry slams, stand-up comedy, restaurant pop-ups, and informative talks.
We love that this hotel is easily accessible. It’s close to the Petaling Street Night Market, KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers, various artisan cafes and bars, and fun attractions like Ana Tomy, where you can customize your own stationery to your exact wants and specifications.
When you get hungry, they have an in-house eatery called Big Buns with comfort food like chicken burgers, rendang cheese toasties, and satay burgers. The food is bursting with flavor and is always made with fresh ingredients.

If you’re looking for a luxurious experience, The Datai in Langkawi is your best bet. Nestled far away in Langkawi, it’s the perfect hideaway for people who want to rest from a fast-paced life.
While a night’s stay is quite pricey, you get what you pay for because of all the amenities and perks. For instance, you get 24-hour butler service here. The views from your balcony are also amazing, looking out at the water and the forest.

Now, it’s a boutique hotel that you and your friends can visit for a relaxing but also historically significant stay. It has 16 spacious rooms that are all furnished and designed so intricately.
It’s very luxurious because you’ll get to enjoy the oriental garden and pool, open courtyards, and even your own jacuzzi. For food, you’ll be glad to know that there are so many restaurants to choose from.
They have Indigo, a place serving Malaysian and international fare, Cafe Mangga, a great place for comfort food, tapas, and live music, The Courtyard, which is open the whole day and has a guzheng player, and The Bar, with the best signature cocktails, wine, coffee, and great eats.

George Town

When in Penang, you have to take the chance and explore George Town. It’s a vibrant spot to give you a taste of the local culture and art scene. It’s fun to eat and shop here with your friends and take lots of pictures.
Some fun spots include Pinang Peranakan Mansion for antiques and culture, Armenian Street for great pictures, and Beach Street for yummy coffee and food.
Speaking of food, some of the most well-known restaurants in the area are Bao Beck Tea House, with a beautiful fairytale-like ambience, BaBa Phang, with really good Peranakan cuisine, and Red Garden Food Paradise for a wide variety of street food.

Cameron Highlands

Cameron Highlands stands out from this list because it’s the only caravan glamping company here. It’s a good getaway for people who want to explore and have fun while still staying on budget.
They provide plenty of choices on the type of tent, packages, and add-ons to suit your preferences. You can book exclusive air-conditioned caravans or domes, or opt for a tent with amenities, or even bring your own tent and rent a lot from the camping grounds.
It’s very reminiscent of childhood camping trips where you sleep under the stars, enjoying the cool night air, under comforting blankets. It’s a great escape from reality and a chance to connect with nature.
If you stay for two nights, you get a free sunrise or rafflesia tour with the package. It’s also very near to a lot of cool places, such as Golden Hills Night Market, the spot for cheap and yummy street food, souvenirs, and clothes.
You can also enjoy the 200 Seeds Cafe if you love strawberries. They have Nasi Lemak strawberry, strawberry tea, and strawberry sundaes. You can even pick your own strawberries at their farm.
Other fun attractions include the Time Tunnel Museum, Cameron Centrum, Mardi Agro Technology Park, and Kea Farm Market.

While not exactly a staycation option, we included this in the list because it’s a fun activity worth trying with friends.
Here you get to visit Boh’s first tea factory, and it’s a chill and relaxing experience. You’ll enjoy cool weather, stunning landscapes, and a chance to learn something new.
Boh Tea Plantation is one of the last remaining tea factories still using a Rotorvane tea processing system that macerates withered tea leaves. After the tour, you get to taste their tea with cakes and confectionery.
