As someone who constantly looks for cheap but awesome date ideas in Kuala Lumpur, I find myself suggesting the same places. However, when work gets extra overwhelming and we’re looking for a more romantic getaway, the city’s spas always come to mind.
Fortunately, there are tons of spas in KL where my missus and I have been treated like royalty, and I’m here to share them all with you! So if you’re looking for a romantic getaway with your partner or you simply want to give your body a refresh, you’ve come to the right place.

Urban Retreat Onsen Spa immediately piqued our attention because of its couple spa package, which involves both a spa and bath treatment. More specifically, we fell in love with the setup of the bath package, as the tubs themselves are filled with fragrant flowers.
During the bath, couples can enjoy separate tubs in a private room that’s just filled with aromatic scents. We’re no experts when it comes to fragrance but the best way we can describe it is that it was minty.
As for the massage itself, it exceeded our expectations by a mile. This was mostly because of the masseuse’s skill and technique which immediately put me and my partner to sleep.
The place itself is also worth highlighting, as it exudes a relaxing ambience with its minimal yet elegant interior decor.
The only issue we’ve noticed with this establishment is that they tend to be unresponsive on their online and mobile channels. We get that they receive tons of inquiries per day but it’s something that’s been bothering potential customers whom we spoke to.

We discovered Banyan Tree Spa during a staycation in the city and naturally, we immediately tried it. Fortunately, it didn’t disappoint, as it offered the most relaxing couple spa package we’ve experienced in a while.
For starters, we appreciate that they offer a wide array of massage packages. However, our favourite thing about this spa is that it allows you and your partner to tailor your massage package based on your preference.
For instance, you can either enjoy a 60-minute body massage, a 30-minute express facial, a 30-minute calming bath or more! If you want our advice, however, we highly recommend the full-body massage, as the masseuses here are highly skilled.
Our only gripe with this spa is its above-average rates. Although we can understand that it’s inside a hotel and you’ll most likely have to book a room to enjoy this amenity, we still feel like it’s more for those special occasions.

Hammam Spa is a great option if you and your partner are looking to enjoy a more lavish spa experience. They offer a package specifically for couples called “Royal Couple Hammam” and it lasts two and a half hours, which flew by faster than we thought.
Throughout this timeframe, we got to enjoy a super relaxing aromatic massage that was an experience for the senses. As the expert massage therapists were kneading our backs, our noses were treated to an aromatic fragrant that helped calm our breathing.
Furthermore, the package also featured an aromatic bath. The scents provided by this experience come in courtesy of the Jasmin leaves, sandalwood and an aromatic flower called “ylang ylang”.
The only thing they could improve upon is their communication skills, more specifically with their massage therapists. We were surprised that they immediately started kneading our bodies without asking if the pressure was just right.

Luxurious and dreamy
“The royal couple massage is luxurious and dreamy. Be prepared for a rough scrubbing to remove layers of your dead skin though. The 2.5-hour experience really goes by in a jiffy. In the end, you get to soak in a tub for two to 15 minutes. Pure bliss.
The prices here at Bangsar Village 2 and Publika are the same, but you pay a bit of a premium at the Lot 10 outlet.“

Ozmosis Wellness Spa was one of our top prospects prior to making this list because of its impressive selection of couple packages. Usually, spas would feature a single package but Ozmosis offered us hot stone therapy, a couple retreat and a premium couple service.
The first package we tried during our first visit was the hot stone therapy and we couldn’t be more glad with the experience. For starters, their massage therapists were gentle with the service and they were able to provide us with warm relief and rejuvenation.
Furthermore, their couple retreat package was surprisingly in-depth as well. It consisted of a foot bath, a body scrub, a floral bath and an aromatherapy massage.
They also offer a premium version of this package, which adds a facial treatment, body polish and more.
One thing we would like them to improve is their response rate on their online and mobile channels. We’ve noticed that they require follow-up messages and some customers even complained that they weren’t getting any type of response.

Right off the bat, we noticed that The Majestic Spa’s offerings are a bit more unorthodox than usual spas mainly because of their use of natural ingredients. For instance, they offer an East Indian massage treatment that uses ginger essential oils, patchouli and ylang-ylang.
We also appreciate that they offer different packages for couples. For instance, females can enjoy a lime blossom bath while males can bask in the ambience at an herbal steam.
These treatments wouldn’t be the same without their talented and personable massage therapists. We highly appreciate how these professionals communicate the treatments clearly before proceeding, which is something we don’t usually see in spas.
Our only gripe with this spa is its expensive packages. On the other hand, we could definitely justify this price point based on the quality of their services as well as the spa’s overall relaxing ambience.
One of our favourite things about this spa, however, is that it offers a la carte services, which are great for budget-conscious couples. These services include Swedish massages, aromatherapy massages and more.
