Growing up in Penang, we’ve always been aware of Lim Bicycle Station mainly because it’s been around since 1957. During our most recent visit, we were impressed to see how they can stand with new stores by how modernised their store and products were.
Speaking of products, their selections of accessories, components and apparel are impressively varied. More specifically, we wanted to highlight their jerseys, as they come in different colours and types to cater to all kinds of cyclists.
We also want to commend their staff members—previous clients have highlighted how approachable they are. Furthermore, they showcase their knowledge of biking through their stellar recommendations that are based on customers’ needs and preferences.
Our only gripe here is the slightly limited selection of models, as they mostly offer trekking bikes—plus, their online store only features 3 models. Furthermore, these models are on the higher end, so do expect to pay a bit higher.

Kah Kean Trading’s best asset is its variety. They can cater to different types of customers by offering models from touring bikes to road bikes, lady bicycles, folding bikes and more.
They also offer a wide array of accessories that cyclists may find handy like front lights, waterproof phone holders and more. Although we would’ve loved to see jerseys in their store, it’s hard to be mad at this selection.
Furthermore, we were impressed by how varied their components were. It’s helpful for customers who need to make quick fixes on their bikes and not buy an entirely new model.
Speaking of, they also offer repair and maintenance services. We haven’t tried these services ourselves, but from what we’ve heard from previous clients, their mechanics are skilled and workers.
However, we did notice some discrepancies in their warranties. Some of their previous customers complained how Kah Kean Trading failed to provide a warranty card even with multiple follow-ups.

Service and repair were pretty fast
“I am not a bicycle enthusiast so I cannot comment much about the technicalities and expertise related to bicycles. I came across this shop purely because they are located along the main road which is very visible.
And actually a few shops are houses away only there is another bicycle shop called Lim Brothers I think.
Anyway, I choose this shop purely because of a lame reason in my own opinion. The front part of the shop looks more spacious and makes it easier for me to park my car and let me unload the bicycle. They have a small spacious area to work on repairing the bike.
So far I have sent two of my kid’s bikes for minor repairs (add small support wheels, change tyres and tubes, repair brakes and bearings) and the price sounds ok. I have also bought a foldable bike here and of course, it is more expensive compared to the online price but I prefer to buy from a shop so it is easier for me to deal with when there are issues.
The service and repair process was pretty fast. Overall service is good and ok. Not many complaints for now, actually none. The only area I have doubts about is the pricing. Maybe next time I will ask for a quote from another shop.“

Specialized Penang immediately caught our attention with its beautiful showroom. Their bikes are perfectly organised according to type, making browsing easy for customers.
The types of bikes they offer further impressed us, as they offer just about every model a novice or an expert may be looking for. These models include mountain bikes, electric bikes, road bikes and even kids bikes.
We also appreciate how they offer various frames for people who prefer to build their bikes from scratch. You can also feel how premium these frames are based on their sturdiness—plus, they come in different cool colours.
Of course, they also offer other parts to go with these frames as well like handlebars, tyres, pedals and more.
The only downside here is the expensive price point of their bikes. However, we can’t complain too much considering their premium quality and cool designs.

We stumbled upon Rodalink Penang by accident on Facebook ads, and we were immediately captivated by the wide selection of their bikes.
Their selection consists of mountain bikes, road bikes and city bikes. However, we mostly appreciate their inclusivity, as they also offer models specifically designed for kids and women.
Furthermore, they offer an impressive selection of electronic bikes that are durable and feature the latest tech.
Their store doesn’t fall short on steals as well—in fact, they offer multiple promotions regularly. This makes checking their physical and online stores all the more worthwhile.
The last thing we wanted to highlight about this store is its professional team. We appreciated how patient one of their staff was during our visit, as he was eager to explain to us the pros and cons of a specific model that we were planning to buy.
However, we do wish that they offer some affordable options for cyclists who are on a tight budget. Fortunately, they slightly make up for this by offering installment plans with 0% interest rates.

“Saw some discounts online, called was picked up by Haziq but one of the models was sold out. My son and I visited Haziq at the shop and saw a nice Marin San Quentin 3.
Haziq patiently explained the pros and cons and although the bike with the smallest size is actually a bit big for my son, we got it anyway as he likes the dropper too much and the knobby Maxxis Assegai 2.5″ tyres.

Georgetown Bicycle Shop is as straightforward as its name. It’s a no-frills store that offers a wide variety of bikes from kids’ bikes to BMX and more.
The best thing about shopping here is the affordable price range. Honestly, we were a bit sceptical at first, but when we saw the models in person, we were confident that they weren’t made with cheap materials.
They also offer various repair and maintenance services at affordable rates. Plus, the person doing them, Gary, is highlighted as being approachable and knowledgeable.
We’ve also seen how their mechanics work, and we noticed how meticulous they are at disassembling and reassembling bike pieces.
The only thing we’d want them to add is an official website. Although Georgetown Bicycle Shop hsa an official Facebook page, it would be more convenient for potential customers if there was an online store where they can check and purchase bikes.
