How much does a Chinese meal typically cost in Subang?
In Subang, a Chinese meal typically costs between RM20 and RM50 per person. This range generally depends on the restaurant, the type of dishes ordered, and portion sizes.
1. Gao Ren Guan

Address: 43, Jln SS 15/4E, Ss 15
Phone: +60356210966
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 5:30 to 10 PM
We recently dined at Gao Ren Guan, drawn in by its reputation for delicious dishes and hidden menu items. The meal started off well with complimentary prawn crackers, a nice touch while we waited for our food.
Their fish maw and ginseng soup was a standout—rich, comforting, and packed with flavour. We also got lucky with an off-menu treat, the imported goose liver sausage, which was a delightful surprise. The friendly staff made the experience even more enjoyable!
However, we did notice that a few dishes arrived faster than expected but were only warm, not hot, giving us the impression that they weren’t freshly made upon ordering. While the flavours were still good, we would have preferred everything to be served piping hot.
That aside, the overall experience was enjoyable, especially with the unique offerings and warm hospitality.
Superb menu
“The salted eggs wet nai yue sotong was really delicious. The garlic prawns were also extremely tasty. The garoupa steamed fish was superb and the lotus root soup washed it all down so well. Free street parking available.”

Worth the visit
“Stars of the night was the crispy Nam Yu pork, steamed chicken with garlic oil and the braised pig offals. All the dishes were so tasty and packed with flavours. Definitely worth a visit and the subsequent returns to try their other dishes.”

2. Restoran Kar Heong

Address: 60, Jalan SS 14/2, Ss 14
Phone: +60105344858
Business Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 9 AM to 8:30 PM
- Saturday to Sunday – 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM
We visited Restoran Kar Heong after hearing plenty of good things about its chicken rice and other Chinese specialties. The steamed chicken was tender and flavorful, while the char siew and siew yoke had a satisfying balance of crispiness and juiciness.
Their silky hor fun paired well with a light yet tasty broth, and the prawn wontons were noticeably fresh. We also liked that the restaurant provides individual condiment pots on each table, allowing diners to customise their meals with chili, light soy, or dark soy sauce.
However, while the food quality met our expectations, we think their service needs improvement since the dishes arrived at an inconsistent pace.
Our beansprouts were served first, but the chicken and meat only showed up much later, long after our rice and soup had gone cold.
The pricing is slightly on the higher side, too, which might not sit well with those looking for a budget-friendly meal.
Unforgettable chicken rice
“Had been their customer since many years ago, taste still the same, still one of the best chicken rice, charsiew and roasted pork rice.”
– Maya, Google Review
Highly recommended
“Authentic Ipoh chicken keow teow from this place with one of the better prepared steamed chicken (farm or free range) on menu. Also highly recommended are their shrimp wontons. The cuts of the racks of roast pork (siew yuk) are also noteworthy. Come early as parking around this area has always been an issue. Asides from being a lunch destination, this place is also popular for early dinner.”

3. Uncle Soon Fried Rice

Address: Subang Square Shopping Mall, Ss 15
Phone: +60102040069
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday – 10:30 AM to 8:30 PM
One thing to keep in mind before visiting Uncle Soon Fried Rice is that, while the portions are generous and the quality is excellent, the prices are slightly higher compared to typical hawker-style fried rice.
That said, the flavors make it a worthwhile indulgence. The fried rice here is all about the wok hei—the smoky, charred aroma that defines a great plate of fried rice.
We tried the prawn fried rice, and while the wok hei wasn’t as intense as expected, the rich flavors and perfectly cooked rice more than made up for it. The prawns were fresh and plump, and the dish had just the right amount of seasoning.
For those who want variety, the char kuay teow is another solid choice, packed with flavor and well-balanced ingredients. Despite the slightly premium price tag, Uncle Soon Fried Rice remains a must-visit for fried rice lovers in Subang.
Best fried rice
“King of fried rice with lots of Wok Hei. This is my first try after they relocate to Subang Square next to the original location in the kopitiam. We visited on a Sunday lunch time. Order prawn non spicy fried rice and charsiew spicy fired rice, both big and cost RM19 in total. Good money for the portion and quality we get. 👍🏻 Glad that the food quality is maintained after all these while. There are a lot of queue but the speed of serving and ordering is fast. We got our food in 15 to 20 min. There are also aircond space and open air space with plenty of tables. Love it! Highly recommended if u are looking for decent fried rice in Subang area. 💯”

Consistent food quality
“They moved from different location and now they are here. The food is always on the consistent quality, it’s tasty and filling like how a great fried rice should be. The sambal is tangy and it gives an ommph . It’s a little hot but bearable. The parking is hard to get even on Jon peak hour.”

4. Tasty 818 Restaurant

Address: 8, Jalan USJ 1/6, Taman Subang Permai
Phone: +601111920970
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday – 11 AM to 2:30 PM | 4:30 to 9:30 PM
Tasty 818 Restaurant lives up to its name by delivering bold flavors and generous portions. The claypot chicken was a standout, with tender, smooth meat soaked in a perfectly balanced sauce that wasn’t overpowering.
Their value package, which includes three dishes and rice, is an excellent option for small groups looking for variety without over-ordering. The extensive menu also features a great selection of fish, pork, and tofu-based dishes.
That said, while the portions justify the price, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the cheapest “dai-chow” spot in Subang. Some might find the pricing a little steep compared to similar eateries in the area.
However, for those who value a comfortable food spot that serves quality ingredients and well-executed flavors, it’s still a worthwhile experience.
Won’t let you down

5. Copper Mansion

Address: 1st Floor, 838, Persiaran Subang, Taman Indah Subang Uep
Phone: +60380232666
Business Hours: Monday to Sunday – 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM | 6 to 10:30 PM
Copper Mansion stands out as one of Subang’s more upscale Chinese restaurants, making it an ideal spot for special occasions. The restaurant itself is grand and spacious, with elegant decor that adds a touch of sophistication to any gathering.
Service was prompt and attentive, with attentive staff. The food quality is undeniably good, with beautifully presented dishes that deliver on both flavour and freshness.
Their Peking duck was a highlight, with crispy skin and well-seasoned meat, though the accompanying noodle dish using the duck meat could have been better. The mango purée with pomelo was a refreshing way to end the meal.
One minor drawback was the cleanliness of the toilets, which could use more attention given the restaurant’s premium setting. Other than that, Copper Mansion delivers an excellent dining experience.
Awesome food
“Had my cny dinner here. The food was awesome especially the pork ribs, smoky with tender meat. The lou sang is topped with soft shell crab which is unusual and I really like the fried nian gao for dessert. The waiter is very attentive. Not sure about the price as I’m not footing the bill but I’m sure it’s expensive for the quality of food provided.”

Nice Chinese restaurant
“Good place for weekend dim sum with family. The place is big, services is good, and easy to find parking. All dim sum are well above average, price is reasonable too. We spent RM400+ for 12 pax”
