5 Bicycle Shops in Kuala Lumpur Considered as Cyclists’ Havens

Range of Models: First, we checked if they offered enough variety in their offered bicycle models (mountain, hybrid, electric, road, kids’ bikes, etc.)

Affordability: Next, we checked if they offered enough budget-friendly options.

Customer service: Of course, we also considered if their staff members offered friendly and helpful customer service.

Services: Lastly, we checked if they offered services like maintenance, repairs, etc.

If I were to make a moving guide to Kuala Lumpur, one of the points I’d make sure to highlight is how bad the traffic is.

With that being said, it’s never a bad idea to invest in a high-quality bike if you live in the city. Plus, the streets of KL feature designated bike lanes, so you can ride safely while avoiding traffic!

Fortunately, KL offers plentiful options for bike shopping, and we’re here to break down everything about them: the good AND the bad. This way, you can stop being late, and who knows? Maybe you’ll gain a new hobby in the process!

What is the average cost of bicycles in Kuala Lumpur?

Bicycles cost anywhere from RM100 to RM15,000 or even more depending on the type, whether it’s a basic or an electric model.

Elegant Bikes impressed us with its wide selection of bikes. They offer models that vary in brands, models, skill levels, colours and any other aspect we could think of.

Some of the well-known names they carry include Camp, Alcott and Java, all of which are known for their high-quality bikes. They feature different models from these brands, including road bikes, mountain bikes and hybrids.

We could also tell that their staff members know their stuff, as they always give out pro tips to their customers. Plus, we’ve seen how they repair and fit bikes first-hand, and we were impressed with how meticulous they were.

Our only gripe is that they only offer limited selections for their accessories like helmets, lights and gloves. We would’ve also liked it if they offered gear like jerseys.

Pros

  • Features a convenient Shoppee page
  • Great selection of bike models
  • Offers affordable options
  • Friendly and helpful customer service

Cons

  • Slightly limited selection of accessories

Helpful and supportive

“The owner is very helpful and supportive—a funny guy, too. Low price for entry-level or for someone who wanted to come back into biking”

– Zulkarnain Hata, Google Review

The owner is quite knowledgeable

“Great place if you’re looking for road bikes within a more affordable range. Spotted brands like Alcott, Twitter and Camp.

The owner is quite knowledgeable about the sport, super helpful and gave a really good deal, including accessories like a helmet, bike stand, gloves, pouch, bike lights, etc. Fitting can be done on the spot, too.“

USJ Cycles features one of the biggest collections of bikes in KL. They carry big-name brands that have models ranging from mountain bikes to folding bikes, hybrids, road bikes and more.

We also appreciate how inclusive their selection is, as they offer models that are geared towards women and children.

They also offer repair and tuning services for different kinds of bikes, and we must say, we’re impressed with their turnaround time. A previous client praised the crew member who helped him, as he was able to get his bike fixed within a couple of hours.

However, we did notice some inconsistencies with their customer service, as some people voiced their complaints online, stating how they weren’t assisted during their visit. We haven’t experienced this ourselves, but it is worth bringing up.

Pros

  • Features a convenient online store
  • Offers promotions regularly
  • Impressive selection of bikes, accessories and parts
  • Well-organised store
  • Quick turnaround time
  • Skilled crew

Cons

  • Inconsistent customer service

Delivered the same day by Lalamove

“Contacted USJ on WhatsApp after seeing it on Google Maps as a place that stocked Wahoo products. I bought an ELEMNT roam v2, Din answered all my questions, and it was delivered the same day by Lalamove, so that was excellent. I was out on the bike using it the next day.”

– Sean Moore, Google Review

Highly recommend the store

“From my very first visit to the store, I discovered the team at USJ Cycles was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. What started as just a pop-in to buy a bicycle pump then became a full-service and various component upgrades.

Each visit, service and transaction just reinforced the good experience I had from my very first visit. Highly recommend the store and the team at USJ Cycles.“

Cyclelogy Bangsar is a must-visit for all cyclists, beginners and experts alike, because it offers one of the most varied selections of accessories, apparel and parts.

For starters, their accessories include gloves, helmets, water bottles, eyewear and more. Plus, they offer a wide array of jerseys that vary in colours and designs to cater to different cyclists with different styles.

We also appreciate their personable and helpful staff members, as they’re always eager to help. Plus, they don’t shy away from giving pro tips when you strike up a conversation with them.

However, we were a bit disappointed with their selection of bikes, as it wasn’t as varied as their accessories and apparel. Don’t get me wrong, though; they still offered a solid collection of mountain bikes, electric bikes and road bikes.

Pros

  • Features a wide array of accessories, parts and apparel
  • Helpful and personable staff members
  • Offers online store and Shoppe page

Cons

  • Slightly limited selection of bikes

These guys can attend to your needs accordingly.

“A very nice bike shop that carries specialised brand bikes, and I was told that they’re bringing in more high-end brands soon.

They have a variety of good-quality accessories here, too. I came here for bike fitting, and even though I brought in my low-end bike, they still provided good service and gave me good recommendations on my bike fitting according to my size.

I was attended by Yong Ling, and he’s quite good/knowledgeable on bikes. Don’t be shy to drop b,y regardless of what kind of road bike you have. I’m sure these guys can attend to your needs accordingly. Good work Cyclelogy”

– Ton Mohamad Nazmi Ton Jaafar, Google Review

The Bike Artisans is the go-to spot for enthusiasts who want a finer-tuned bike for their personal needs. It offers an in-depth custom bike creation where its crew works closely with their clients to customise everything from the handles to the frames, wheels, etc.

We want to praise their team for this service, as their patience is on full display. They attentively listen to their clients and answer all their questions in detail.

One of the main downsides here is the slightly limited selection of bikes, which is understandable given that their store is more of a custom bike shop. Also, we must note that the rates here are higher than your typical bicycle store.

They do make up for their limited selection of bikes by offering a wide variety of accessories, shoes and apparel. Moreover, they offer care kits to prolong the lifespan of bicycles and their respective parts.

Pros

  • Friendly and helpful customer service
  • Creates premium custom bikes
  • Offers apparel, care kits, shoes and equipment
  • Well-organised store

Cons

  • Pricey rates
  • Slightly limited selection of bikes

Super helpful and friendly team

“Super helpful and friendly team, very knowledgeable and doesn’t push stuff on you. Gives you the space to think and will follow up with the right recommendations.

Some shops may feel intimidating, especially for a novice cyclist, this one looks like one, but don’t let that facade be a deterrent. Walk in, say hello, and you’ll be greeted with smiles all around. Watch your wallet, though…”

– Avin Tan, Google Review

Had the best experience

“Thank you, The Bike Artisans, for the excellent customer service. We flew from the Philippines and had our bikes assembled and packed here with Melvin (a fellow Filipino) as our mechanic.

Had the best experience, and they even went the extra mile to show us around KL and bring us to the most scenic bike routes in the area. Highly recommended. Instant five stars“

Quick Sport is a triathlete’s paradise, as it offers everything from swimwear to running accessories and bicycles. They also offer nutrition pouches and bars for avid cyclists and marathoners.

Their bike collection is small but impressive, featuring models like mountain bikes, trekking bikes and road bikes from different well-known brands. However, what we didn’t expect to find in a place like this is a vintage bike selection.

We also want to commend their customer service, as they’re always responsive to online inquiries. Also, once you enter their store, one of their staff members will immediately approach you.

The only downside we noted was the lack of hybrid and electric bikes as well as bicycle parts, so we hope they can improve on this for a better experience for everyone.

Pros

  • Caters to triathletes
  • Offers nutrition pouches, bars and supplements
  • Features a wide array of mountain, trekking and road bikes
  • Sells apparel, accessories and equipment
  • Friendly and attentive customer service

Cons

  • Lack of hybrid and electric bikes
  • Lack of bike parts

Overall, it was a satisfying experience

“Mr. Yong is a friendly and patient chap. He was keeping tabs on me timely even though he was busy attending to another few customers at the same time. Bought my first ever cleat cycling shoes here after some survey. Overall, it was a satisfying experience, and I will return again.

They also feature quite a complete range of nutrition, gels, triathlete equipment, etc.

The only downside is the parking, especially during office hours. Please plan your visit by reaching out to them via WhatsApp prior.”

– Alvin Loh, Google Review

Really helpful

“Yong was really helpful, and the most important thing is that he always explains in education mode, which is very useful for those who just started cycling. I bought my cycling shoes (lake) from him. One of the strong reasons why I bought them was because of his explanation!“
