1. Jakel Alor Setar – Kedah

Products: Batik, Kurung, Baju Melayu
Location: 3A-9, Sultan Abdul Halim Hwy
Contact: +60 4-777 5520
Business hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Jakel Alor Setar caught our attention the first time we drove by it, thanks to their beautiful selection of kurung on display. The variety was impressive, as they offered different patterns and colour combinations.
Furthermore, they offer a myriad of baju melayu, which come in just a bout every colour there is on the rainbow. We also touched the textiles of these clothing pieces, and were impressed to feel just how soft and high-quality they were.
We also want to give kudos to the staff members, as every item was organised, and the store itself offered a pleasing environment for shopping.
Previous customers also shared their appreciation for the staff members, highlighting their helpfulness in finding the right item for their taste. We also heard that these professionals often provide the right colour combination based on the customer’s skin tone.
However, we do wish that they could add more pattern variety to their selection.
Super helpful from start to finish
“The staff at Jakel Alor Setar were super helpful from start to finish. The whole process was smooth and stress-free, thanks to their friendly and professional service. A special shoutout to the girl staff member with glasses who assisted me.
She was really attentive and made sure everything was taken care of. I even received a free gift, which was such a nice surprise! Overall, a really good experience!”

Good at matching material colours
“We were amused and got fascinated by looking around, especially level 1, specialised for beaded border lace & silk materials. There’s one sales boy attending us from the beginning till the end! And he even gave us a special discount for all the items we bought!
He is a soft-spoken, well-versed fabric expert and good at matching material colours. We will come again and again! Thank you for an amazing experience!”

2. Pokoks – Shah Alam

Products: Baju kurung, baju raya, kurta, samping
Location: 54-1, Jln Setia Utama AS U13/AS
Contact: +60 16-556 9865
Business hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Pokoks is one of our go-to’s for clothes shopping because of its wide selection of clothes. We decided to include it on our list because come Hari Raya season, they always drop a new collection that features Raya clothing for boys, girls, men, women, and infants.
We also like the wide selection of clothing types they offer, ranging from baju kurung, raya, kurta, samping and more. They also offer cute matching sets for infants and parents.
Shopping here is a pleasure as well, because everything is neatly organised per category, and it’s spacious enough to browse their selection easily. Furthermore, the friendly and helpful staff members make shopping here less overwhelming.
Pokoks also features a convenient online store, where customers can browse Raya clothing and have it delivered on time from the comfort of their homes.
Our only gripe is that it’s not near any bus or train station, so commuting can be a bit challenging.
Found everything I needed in one place
“Pokok Kids is an absolute gem! I found everything I needed in one place—high-quality, stylish, and comfortable clothing for my little cousin.
Their collection is thoughtfully designed, and the materials feel premium yet soft and safe for kids.
The shopping experience was seamless, and I love how they cater to both essentials and trendy pieces. Definitely my go-to brand from now on!
AMAZING 10/10”

Worth the price
“Just found out about this store from my friend. It’s located upstairs near the shop lot area. Neat and organised boutique to bring kids here. They even have a Surau and a washroom here. The waiting area is spacious and has lots of chairs to sit in!
I love how they separate the section by new arrival collection, men’s and women’s by colour coordinate. Their kids’ designs and ranges are very unique and versatile.
The material is worth the price, will definitely recommend this shop to anyone who’s looking to find a matching outfit for the whole family!”
3. FERN – Batik + Artisanal Collective – Kuala Lumpur

Products: Batik shirts, skirts, dresses
Location: Bangsar Village II – UGF 17A
Contact: +60 11-2181 0712
Business hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
FERN immediately caught our attention with its elevated style. We could immediately tell that their products were of luxurious quality, from the moment we entered their beautifully boho-designed and well-maintained store.
What stood out to us during our shopping experience, however, was their staff members. We were immediately approached by one of their experts and were provided with in-depth styling tips to find the right Raya clothes.
Previous customers even told us how they felt instantly more confident the moment they left the store because of how well the recommended item looked on them.
Their Raya clothes are introduced during the Ramadan season, so no two pieces would look the same every year. We’ve seen their previous collections and were impressed with the intricate details of each piece, whether it was skirts, short-sleeve shirts for men, etc.
They also offer an online store with convenient delivery options—just prep your wallet, as the prices are expensive.
Delicately designed clothes
“You will walk into a bright, cheery boutique filled with delicately designed clothes made with premium natural fabrics such as fine cotton, delicate silks & many handmade handbags, jewellery & other beautiful accessories that will surprise your sense of aesthetics.
Fancy face masks that are artistic & smart, and reusable? Look no further. Plenty to choose from at this well-appointed space”

Couldn’t believe my own eyes
“Beautiful garments made with silk and cotton. I was given personalised styling advice by Sabrina and walked away looking 10 kilos lighter due to the style of dress she suggested for me.
I must admit I was sceptical and only tried the dress on to humour her. I couldn’t believe my own eyes. The colour and cut were perfect”

4. ANAABU – Kuala Lumpur

Products: Pleated skirts, long-sleeved shirts, pants
Location: 13, Jln Sin Chew Kee
Business hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
ANAABU is one of the most unique clothing stores in Kuala Lumpur, as it takes inspiration from Japanese fashion, with its dark colour palette and wide fits. We also saw how some of their designs were made to suit both men and women by offering unique silhouettes.
We also loved how the store itself looked, as it was akin to those famous designer stores, with its antique wooden decor, exposed concrete, and contemporary ceilings. The same can be said regarding their pieces, too, as they were sleek and had that luxurious look.
One of their pieces that stood out to us was their kebaya, which came in muted and vibrant colours. Previous customers whom we interviewed were gracious enough to share their outfits with us, and we loved how stylish and modern they were.
As much as we love modernity, however, sometimes, it’s still nice to have a touch of tradition, especially for an occasion like Hari Raya. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough traditional designs in their selection.
Interesting, unique detailing
“Idiosyncratic Japanese-inspired quirky androgynous but highly wearable unisex styles. Natural colour soothing Zen palette. Clothing veers towards deconstructed silhouettes—ventilated, roomy, comfy and airy cuts.
Interesting, unique detailing. Mood dressing at its best and most interesting. Quite an impressive local designer. Service is polite, helpful and convivial.”

Combines modern styles with the requirements of Islam
“Annabu is a local Malaysian niche fashion clothing brand that primarily designs and sells apparel for Muslim women. This brand strives to combine modern styles with the requirements of Islam to provide fashionable choices that align with Muslim women’s beliefs and lifestyles.
Annabu’s product line includes a variety of garments such as long dresses, jackets, tops, and pants, with styles ranging from traditional to modern.
When embracing this modest old house as their new home, Annabu cherishes the beauty in its imperfect quirks.
Despite the weathered walls, the building’s existence has been prolonged, much like the wabi-sabi concept that celebrates the flaws sculpted by time, evoking a feeling of strolling through Tokyo’s Shimo-Kitazawa neighbourhood.”

Contact: +60 3-2779 5180
Business hours:
- Monday: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Qiszar was recommended to us by a friend who recently shopped for Raya dresses. She, along with a handful of our interviewees, spoke about the knowledgeable and helpful staff members of the store, sharing how they found the right piece for them after a close consultation.
We went to the store ourselves, and we immediately felt welcomed by the warm approach of their staff members. Furthermore, we noticed how elegant the store was, featuring golden and marbling accents across its design.
One of the things that stood out to us immediately was the wide array of Raya dresses they offered.
They didn’t just vary in colour, but in silhouettes as well. For instance, some of our respondents who were plus-size shared their appreciation for the inclusive designs of the store.
We also noticed how their pieces felt high-quality, whether it be silk, linen, cotton, etc. We were further impressed when we saw the reasonable price tags. We just wish they could improve the variety in their kids and men’s sections.
Informative, attentive, and knowledgeable
“Dania was very informative, attentive, and knowledgeable about the product. Even suggested which baju would look appropriate* on our body.
The most important thing is to be very patient in dealing with customers. I would definitely come to Qiszar again, please find Dania guys, you won’t be disappointed”
