The Laman Perdana is an area of the botanical garden where various events are held. It’s also a great place where you can just sit down and bask in the serene and beautiful atmosphere of the botanical garden.

Get to know Malaysia’s national flower at the Hibiscus Park

Hibiscus Park is one of our favourite spots in the entire garden all because of its sheer beauty. This can be attributed to its variety of majestic plants including the country’s national flower, the Bunga Raya.

You can see these colourful and vibrant flowers blooming across the park, which makes for a perfect background for your photos. Alternatively, you can make them the subject of your portrait as well!

Admire exotic trees at the Forest Tree Collection

This massive park contains one of the most amazing forest tree collections not just in Malaysia but in the entire Southeast Asian region as well. You’ll find the park’s tree collection as you’re strolling through its different attractions, and you’ll be in awe of how graceful they are.

What we love about this place is that it doesn’t only house the usual trees that you’ll find across the country. Throughout one of your walks, you’ll also find exotic species such as Mahogany, Brazil Nut Tree and Tembusu.

Lastly, what’s more impressive is that some, or even most of these trees are over a hundred years old!

Take your kids to the children’s playground

If you’re with your kids and they want to do something more fun than just admiring trees, you can take them to the children’s playground. This playground is massive and it consists of various slides, swings and other attractions.

Don’t worry, this place is a great place for grown-ups too! Located around the park are benches where you can sit down and relax to regain all the energy you’ve lost from walking around the botanical garden.

Enjoy different activities at the Central Lake

One of the biggest highlights of the park is hands-down the Central Lake. This massive body of water opens the door to different fun activities such as fish feeding and fishing, and the best part is that it’s free!

Our favourite activity in this park, however, is boat riding. We recommend trying out this activity when you’re with a big group because the boat can accommodate multiple passengers.

Plus, the views that you’ll be treated to are unmatched. Quite frankly, it’s the best way to bask in the immaculate vibes that the park has to offer, or at least in our opinion.

Take beautiful photos at the Sunken Garden

It would be a shame to leave this place without visiting the Sunken Garden, as this is such a picturesque area. This beautiful garden features various colourful flowers that are a joy to just admire and take photos of.

Meanwhile, a star-shaped fountain can be found in the middle, which for us is like a cherry on top. It completes the overall fairytale-like vibe the whole garden has got going on, and we’re all for it!

If you’re looking to get some exercise in, why not be surrounded by beautiful nature at the same time? Thanks to the jogging track in Perdana Botanical Gardens, you can start your morning jog or ride a bicycle through the luscious forest found across the park.

The serenity and views of this park are levels above any gym you’ll ever find in the city. Plus, you’ll get to spot some beautiful birds too!

Directions

One of the best activities you can do with your family around Perdana Botanical Garden is going bird-watching at KL Bird Park. This attraction isn’t your regular bird park, as it’s one of the largest aviaries out there, spanning over 20 acres.

Kids and adults alike will surely love admiring various beautiful species of birds living their best lives in a sanctuary like this. Plus, it’s always a blast to learn more about them through the different visual aids located across the park.

This place is open every day from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, so you don’t have a reason not to stop by during your visit to Perdana Botanical Garden!

Petronas Towers

Directions

While you’re in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, why not do one of the most iconic things to do in the capital and visit Petronas Towers? You may have seen this iconic piece of architecture on postcards and magazines but nothing beats seeing it in real life.

Standing at 1,483 feet, this marvellous structure is an amazing spectacle, whether you’re a fan of architecture or not. Plus, your trip to the country wouldn’t be complete without taking a photo here, so might as well stop by after or before visiting Perdana Botanical Garden.

Islamic Arts Museum

Directions

If you want to learn more about the culture of Malaysia, we recommend visiting the beautiful Islamic Arts Museum. It’s the largest museum that showcases this type of art in the entire Southeast Asian region, and it’s a must-visit for every tourist stopping by Kuala Lumpur.

Aside from the plentiful artefacts found inside this museum, one of its biggest highlights is the dome found on its roof. This colourful convex features a beautiful design that’s instantly recognisable from a mile away.

The great thing about this is that it’s located beside Perdana Botanical Garden, so you won’t have to ride any buses or trains! So if you want to hit two birds with one stone, make sure to visit the museum before or after your time at the garden.

Kuala Lumpur Deer Park

(Photo from: Pxfuel)

Located near the Orchard Garden is the awe-inspiring Deer Park, which we recommend you visit. From the name itself, this place houses beautiful deers, but one species that never fails to captivate us are those belonging to the “dama dama” family.

This specific species of deer features white speckles on their bodies and their antlers can grow up to 70 cm. They’re a majestic breed of animals indeed, and it’s not hard to see that once you see them in person for the first time.

You may also hear the staff calling them Rosa Holland Deers, and this is because it’s believed that they came from Holland.
