Fortunately, I live in a city like Penang, where tons of furniture spots can be found along its streets. After living here for a couple of years, I’ve gotten a solid grasp on which spots to check out, and I’m here to share them with you!

Dad’s Woods is a small family-run business that we love to visit occasionally (online and in person) to see if they have any new collections up for sale. Speaking of the family, the store made us feel right at home, as their staff were accommodating and helpful!
They’re widely known for making these aesthetic furniture that look like they’re made out of a single block of wood. This was perfectly showcased in one of their recent collections, the artisanal stool and end table, which we really liked!
We also appreciate how this store offers customised pieces of furniture, and what’s more impressive is that they do this using a single slab of wood! From the shape to the fixture, height, finishing and more, you’ll be in charge of what you want the product to look like.
Unfortunately, this type of personalisation and craftsmanship is quite costly, which brings us to one of our gripes with this store: its price point. We can still see these pieces being sold like hotcakes though, as the quality that goes into them is top-notch.
Lastly, we felt that their collection is a bit limited. It’s not one of those places where you can enter and browse items for hours on end while visualising what your future home would look like.

“Outstanding craftsmanship and we couldn’t be more pleased. Dad’s Woods markets itself as a bespoke furniture store — which they are — but I should note that prices are very reasonable for the quality and workmanship. Each piece of furniture is built to last with timelessness in mind.
We purchased a sofa and dining table from them. Initially, there was a small issue with the dining table top during assembly (we picked out a ready-made slab that had been on display for some time) but they recognized the problem right away and allowed us to use the table while they built a new one. Exceptional service all around.
If you want quality furniture, I encourage anyone interested to drop in, have a look and talk to the owners V-Ho and Giselle. They are both very friendly and patient and can be customised based on your needs.

From what we’ve seen, DoYoung Malaysia is one of the go-to places for furniture shopping in Penang mainly because of its wide variety of offerings.
This place features just about everything we want from a furniture store, from office desks to stools, beds and decor. Overall, this selection makes shopping (or window shopping) all the more enjoyable!
If you want, you can also visit their website so you won’t have to step outside your doorstep—and this is actually one of our favourite things about them. Think: Amazon but with a bigger focus on furniture, and you can browse, checkout, and have the furniture delivered to you doorstep!
We also appreciate how they offered assembly services, going the extra mile by helping customers build their newly purchased furniture pieces.
As for the downsides, two things quickly drew our attention based on our recent surveys and interviews with their past clients. Firstly, some people voiced their disappointment with their delivery times, with some complaining that they don’t get their orders on time.
Furthermore, we’ve also seen some reports of some of their staff members being unapproachable. Personally, we haven’t experienced this kind of service on our many trips to the store, but we still felt like including it here for future customers’ information.

Sweet Home Penang One Shop is another solid option in our books because of their wide variety of collections. They also live up to their name as being a one-stop shop, as they feature furniture pieces for the entire house, whether it be indoors or outdoors.
Plus, their selection is constantly refreshed, so we always come back here to check if there are new pieces we can add to our growing home.
Fortunately, it’s quite easy to browse their items, as they feature a helpful website listing all their furniture pieces. What’s better is that these items are sorted by their type, making it easier for us to find what we’re looking for.
Their staff also exemplified their knowledge and hospitality when we were having trouble choosing between two types of couches. We must say, we couldn’t have decided without them, so kudos to the team!
Our only gripe with Sweet Home Penang One Shop is that since it’s more of a furniture store through and through, there isn’t as much high-quality wooden furniture as we would’ve liked.
Don’t get us wrong, they do offer great pieces, but they aren’t of the same calibre as other stores on this list.
This aspect does come with an advantage though, as the wooden furniture here costs significantly less as opposed to those “artsy” collections found in other stores.

We think that Regent Furnishing Sdn Bhd ticks all the boxes of what a furniture store should be, from their wide selection of furniture to their friendly customer service and more.
Firstly, we think that their collection of furniture, wooden or not, is quite impressive. The ones they offer here range anywhere from bedroom to office, outdoor and living room furniture.
They also offer some wooden furniture for cafes, which we thought was pretty cool! Some of their artistic bar stools immediately caught our eye and come to think of it, we may have to get one soon right after writing this review!
It’s also worth noting that these pieces of furniture feature various designs, colours and materials, which is an instant A+ for us! We appreciate this kind of variety because it lets us choose from different aesthetics, allowing room for creativity in the household.
The only thing we were disappointed with was their occasional unresponsiveness, and we aren’t the only ones who experienced this. Although this may be due to their high frequency of inquiries, we still think it should be mentioned here.
Overall, Regent Furnishing Sdn Bhd is a great furniture store in Penang that features all the bells and whistles. If you can look past the somewhat unresponsive online customer service as well as the occasional pricey rates, you’re in good hands!
