7 Spots that Offer Authentic Thai Food in Subang Jaya
Although there are several differences between Malaysia and Thailand, there’s no denying that both countries offer the tastiest local delicacies! Coming from a country that offers nasi lemak, laksa, rendang and more, I’m not afraid to admit that I enjoy a plate of pad Thai here and there.
With that being said, I’ve tried a handful of Thai restaurants in my area (Subang Jaya), and I must say that they’re a bit of a hit or a miss! This is when I had my light bulb moment and thought of creating this list.
So if you’re looking for the best Thai food in Subang Jaya, you’ve come to the right place! Here are the best restaurants, cafes and no-frills eateries that offer them (+ some local tips!):

Khrua Thai @ The Sky is the place to be if you’re one to revel in majestic sights while enjoying your favourite dishes. As you may have gleaned from its name, this restaurant is on the rooftop, offering diners panoramic views of Subang and its surrounding cities.
Views aside, this restaurant excels in its wide variety of authentic Thai offerings. For instance, you can start your meal with one of their prawn and fish cake combo, which are deep-fried to perfection—a great way to familiarise yourself with the cuisine’s flavours.
Their signature dishes are to die for as well, among which is the steamed squid with spicy lemon sauce. This dish is nailed to perfection, as the squid doesn’t feature that rubbery texture and the sauce isn’t too sour.
Pro tip:
Pair your seafood, chicken and beef dishes with a serving of their kang kong with belacan! This vegetable dish will help balance out the flavours of all your meaty orders while providing a spicy kick!

SOI 55 Thai Kitchen should be on your radar if you’re looking for the most varied menu in Subang. They’ll fully immerse you in the country’s cuisine by featuring dishes like tom yum soup, Thai green curry chicken and stir-fried kangkong with oyster sauce.
However, you can’t leave without trying one of their fantastic seafood offerings like their steamed fish with garlic and lime sauce. You can also get their seafood stir-fried rice to pair with their spicy squid—a match made in heaven, indeed!
Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete Thai feast without ordering their signature mango sticky rice! If you’re tired of the traditional dessert, however, we also recommend getting their tropical fruit platter, which features this amazing sweet and spicy Thai dip.
Pro tip:
While you’re here, be sure to order their Thai milk tea because this is as authentic as it can get! If you’re looking for something more unique, you can also order their fragrant coconut drink, which is just as refreshing!

Mr. Tuk Tuk is the perfect example of a Thai fast-food chain, and we mean that in the best possible way! For starters, the service is exceptionally fast and the prices are ridiculously low, even for Malaysia’s standards.
Of course, the main highlight remains to be the dishes themselves, which include Thai favourites such as tom yum soup, pad Thai and salted fish fried rice. On a side note, if you’re ordering their tom yum soup, be sure to get seafood, as it’s much better than the chicken IMO.
They also offer a handful of sides that pair perfectly well with their signature dishes. Our favourite one to order is their fish cake, as it’s deep-fried to golden perfection and it comes with a delicious homemade sauce.
Pro tip:
If you can’t decide on what to order, we recommend getting one of their special platters! These come with an assortment of dishes like fish cakes, chicken, noodles, vegetables and even desserts!

Boran Classic Thai Street Food offers a no-frills dining experience that will take you to the streets of Bangkok. Well, figuratively because the place does feature a spacious and comfy dine-in area but you get the point!
One of their best offerings is their stir-fried rice series. On top of their umami-filled plate of rice, you can get them alongside their Thai basil minced pork, grilled pork neck, pork belly and even a bowl of their signature tom yum soup.
Since this is indeed inspired by the hawker stalls of Bangkok, you’ll find some delicious snacks as well like their wonton skins, pork belly skewers and tempura squid. Lastly, you can wash away the meaty flavour from your mouth with their selection of authentic Thai milk tea.
Pro tip:
If you’re hungry as a horse but don’t want to overspend, you can opt for their best-seller bundles. A perfect example of this is their buttermilk tom yum chicken and pork rice bundle.

Aside from these two bestsellers, you can also treat yourself to some authentic grilled sotong (squid). They feature the right amount of char and they don’t feature that rubbery texture—plus, it comes with a homemade sauce with tons of spices!
To top it all off, they also offer a wide array of authentic Thai milk tea, among which is our favourite, the green matcha. Meanwhile, if you’re more of a coffee person, then you must try their super-rich Thai coconut coffee.

128 Thai is another spot that offers affordable quick Thai bites that we keep coming back to, and we can’t help it! For starters, the dishes here feature hearty servings, so you’ll be getting the best value for your money regardless of what you order.
Furthermore, the variety is off the charts, featuring dishes like pad Thai boneless chicken, tom yum glass noodles and more. We also love that they offer the choice to either have their tom yum served with seafood or chicken.
128 Thai is also a great starting point for people who want to dip their toes in Thai cuisine but don’t want to go all in. This is thanks to their Thai Western fusion selection, which features favourites like Thai green curry mixed with chicken over spaghetti.

If you’re looking for a modern and Instagrammable Thai restaurant in Subang Jaya, then Thai Moment should be on your radar! It’s one of the more elevated Thai restaurants in the area but don’t fret because the prices are still affordable.
Looks aside, Thai Moment offers a solid selection of Thai staples, among which is their widely beloved red tom yum soup. The moment you set eyes on this dish, you’ll immediately start to feel your sweat building up but don’t worry, that’s how you know you’re in for a spicy treat!
This place is also great for the family, as they offer kids meals, which come in the form of happy meals and no, it’s not what you’re thinking. Instead of coming with a toy and a small serving of food, these dishes feature a bundle of chicken hot basil, tom yum soup and more!
Pro tip:
If you love the flavour of tom yum soup but don’t bode too well against spice, then you should order their white tom yum soup! They’re notably tamer compared to their red counterparts but they’re still tangy enough to give you that distinct tom yum taste.
