Taman Saujana Hijau will immediately add that magical feel to your photoshoots with its beautiful and lush gardens. From colourful flower beds to vast fields, and towering trees, this park doesn’t fall short of eye-catching things that would be perfect as your photo’s backdrop.
We’ve also seen couples doing fun poses such as lying on the ground of rolling hills while wearing suits and gowns. There are also manmade structures around the park, such as classical-style gazebos that can add a bit more flair to your photos!
Lastly, what we love about Taman Saujana Hijau is its accessibility, being minutes away from Kuala Lumpur. At the same time, however, it will make you feel like you’re out of the city due to its beautiful natural landscapes.
Pro tip:
Consider coming early in the morning on weekdays to avoid being photobombed by joggers and visitors.

The Moroccan Pavilion in Putrajaya is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in the city, which is why it makes sense that it’s a go-to spot for soon-to-be newlyweds. The attention to detail of each tile and woodwork is impressive, and to see it on a large scale is next-level.
Furthermore, the charm of the Moorish-style architecture is enhanced by the surrounding and contrasting lush greenery. This way, you’ll have the pleasure of combining both natural and manmade beauty in your wedding photoshoot!
There are plenty of photo-worthy spots in the park, but our favourite is definitely the outdoor fountain. When angled right, couples can have the fountain in the foreground while the beautiful Moorish arch sits in the backdrop.
Pro tip:
While you’re here, try to snap some photos along the Putrajaya Lake as well, since the park is located right by the water.
Tamarind Square – Cyberjaya

Address: B-02, 03, Persiaran Multimedia
Contact details: +60 3-8800 8300
Operating hours: Daily from 10:00 AM to 11:35 PM
Cost: Free
Tamarind Square is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a mix of industrial and natural vibes in your pre-wedding photos. For starters, the square features several elements of exposed concrete, from walls to stairs, arches, and more.
Speaking of stairs, one of the highlights here is the multiple flight of concrete staircases that looks like a scene straight out of Inception. The overall monotonous theme of these zig-zagging stairs is perfect for making colourful gowns and suits pop!
Lastly, Tamarind Square also has its fair share of greenery in the form of overgrown leaves. This way, they’re naturally integrated into the man-made structures of the square, creating this unique and contrasting setting that’s perfect for creative portraits!
Pro tip:
After getting fatigued from standing and posing countless times, make your way to MaybeMatcha, located in the square. They offer delicious pastries and, as you may have gleaned from its name, matcha-based refreshers!
Sultan Abdul Samad Building – Kuala Lumpur
– Media credit: elfrosst
Address: Jalan Raja, City Centre
Operating hours: Open 24 hours
Cost: Free
It’s rare when a building holds such historical significance and architectural beauty, and the Sultan Abdul Samad Building is a prime example of this. We say it’s historic because it was once home to the British colonial administration in the Federation of Malaya.
Today, it still holds multiple purposes, with one of them being the home of the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia. More importantly, its Moorish and Indo-Saracenic architecture serves as a fantastic backdrop for soon-to-be newlyweds!
The great thing about taking photos here is that it’s free—plus, it offers tons of interesting design elements that add more character to the portraits. One of the prime examples of this is the clock tower, which can imply symbolism as well, with marriage being timeless and all.
Pro tip:
While you’re here, be sure to drop by Merdeka Square as well to take more photos with historical landmarks!
Sekinchan – Selangor
– Media credit: livelifelah
Address: Sabak Bernam District
Operating hours: Open 24 hours
Cost: Free
If you want your photoshoot to double as a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, then Sekinchan should be on your radar! This quaint fishing village offers a rural setting, with its sea of paddy fields being the main attraction.
To get the “money shot,” we recommend arriving at the rice fields early to catch the sunrise in your portraits. Furthermore, there’s an abandoned 727 in these ricefields, which sticks out like a sore thumb, but hey, it makes for a great pre-wedding shot!
There are also wooden boats found across the village where couples can pose and take cool photos in the rustic setting.
Pro tip:
Consider making your photoshoot an overnight stay to easily catch the sunrise and enjoy the numerous pool villas found across the village.
Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion – Penang
– Media credit: cheongfatttzemansion
Address: 14, Lebuh Leith
Contact details: +60 4-262 0006
Operating hours: Daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Cost: Free (exterior only)
Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, also known as the Blue Mansion, is one of the most charming places in George Town because of its rich cultural heritage on full display. It features a striking blue exterior, some intricate woodwork, and, to top it off, antique furnishings.
There are several guided tours available that’ll help you take in the beautiful history of the building. However, photoshoots are only allowed on the exterior of the building.
With that said, it’s still a fantastic option for those looking for a more traditional-looking photoshoot. Plus, it’s not always that you can treat a UNESCO heritage site as the venue of your pre-wedding photos, right?
Pro tip:
If you’re planning on booking a stay in this mansion, we recommend doing so using their official website! They’ll post all their promotions here, which include exclusive discounts, packages, and more!
Pantai Klebang Sand Dunes – Melaka
– Media credit: shotby.lennon
Address: Klebang Basar
Operating hours: Open 24 hours
Cost: Free
Pantai Klebang isn’t just a beautiful beach that locals frequent during summertime, but it’s also one of the top photo shoot spots for shutterbugs. This is mainly because of the cool natural sand dunes found across the beach that make for perfect backdrops for portraits.
The sight is equal parts minimalist and surreal, as there’s not much like it in Malaysia, while not being too over the top. Also, with the overall monotonous sand colour of the dunes, wearing bright outfits is the right move!
Lastly, the unique setting offers numerous possible poses. We’ve seen couples take candid shots of themselves running up, down, and around the hills, while others take the extra mile and lie down on the sand!
Pro tip:
If you get hungry after your photoshoot, just make your way to the main beach! There are tons of vendors there that offer quick bites like oysters, as well as beverages like coffee!
Tanjung Tokong Beach – Penang
– Media credit: georgetownpenang
Address: Pantai, Tanjung Tokong
Operating hours: Open 24 hours
Cost: Free
Tanjung Tokong Beach is one of the most underrated spots on this list, mainly because of its hidden location. We must say, however, that its “hidden” vibe is part of its charm, as it makes you feel like you’re discovering something—plus, this means fewer crowds!
One of the best things about this spot is, of course, the waters. They’re cerulean blue, and seeing them crash into the pure sand is as eye candy as a backdrop can get for pre-wedding photoshoots.
Furthermore, exploring Tanjung Tokong Beach will lead you to interesting structures from the olden days. A prime example of this is a lookout tower that has seen better days but offers stunning views of the sea!
Pro tip:
You can also extend your photoshoot venue to Straits Green Park By The Sea, where you’ll find cool coconut trees!
Saloma Link Bridge – Kuala Lumpur
– Media credit: burakevgeniy
Address: 9, Lorong Raja Muda Musa 3
Operating hours: Daily from 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
Cost: Free
If you don’t want to steer away from KL but still want to take creative portraits, then the Saloma Link Bridge is the perfect venue for you! This beautiful work of steel mainly serves pedestrians, but due to its beautiful architectural style, it has become a hotspot for photographers globally.
With that said, we recommend getting here during weekdays as early as possible. It won’t be completely deserted, but it will give you some windows to strike a pose or two and take beautiful portraits.
However, the best time to take photos here is when the sun goes down, as the walls of this bridge will be lit up with colourful LEDs.
Pro tip:
You can also catch glimpses of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and use them as a stunning backdrop for your photos from this bridge!
Perdana Botanical Gardens – Kuala Lumpur
– Media credit: janethecrazy
Address: Jalan Kebun Bunga
Contact details: +60 3-2276 0432
Operating hours: Daily from 6:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Cost: Free (General Entrance)
Perdana Botanical Gardens is one of the patches of natural greenery across Kuala Lumpur, and coincidentally, it’s also a perfect pre-wedding photoshoot spot. With its vibrant flower beds and beautiful towering trees, it’s the closest venue that resembles a fairy tale world!
Aside from plants, several manmade structures across its 91.6 hectares are great for photoshoots, such as bridges and gazebos. There’s also a stunning, serene lake that’s just begging to be photographed.
Also, it never gets too crowded thanks to its sheer size—plus, locals are always kind enough to give space when they see cameras around. However, the best time we recommend is before 9:00 AM, as it offers softer lighting.
Pro tip:
You can also stop by and take photos/admire the exteriors of iconic buildings nearby, like the Islamic Arts Museum and the National Mosque.
