Finding the right hair salon can be challenging, especially if you’re living in Selangor, more specifically, a bustling city like Shah Alam. Moreover, if you’re someone like me who takes hair care VERY seriously, it becomes an even more hefty task.
Throughout the years, I’ve searched every nook and cranny of Shah Alam for the best hair salons, which took numerous trials and errors (trust me, there were plenty of nopes!). However, it did help me find the places I can trust—hence this list!

We discovered Michi Hair Studio HQ when we stumbled upon their hair colouring video on TikTok. The before-and-after results were impressive, which led us to check out their page and delve into their videos, and we’re glad we did!
After doom-scrolling, we decided to check out the salon itself, and we were impressed with how they handled their customers. Firstly, we appreciate the overall lively and friendly ambience inside, which gave a sense of community.
When it was time to get on the stylist’s seat, we were immediately captivated by their personality! There was never an awkward moment because we were able to have a fun conversation with just about every topic we could think of, which made us feel comfortable.
I personally availed of their wash and style service, and I could sense the tenure of their stylist based on her finesse with every action she made. This was further cemented when I saw the volume in my hair after the session.
We also inquired about their other services, and they told us that they also offer colouring, perming, and even scalp treatments.
As much as we love the bustling ambience, however, we feel like its busy atmosphere may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Plus, it makes waiting times that much longer.

We knew of ED Eight Days Salon before making this list because we’ve seen their branches all across Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Right off the bat, one of the things we love about this particular branch is its accessible location (inside i-City) and operating hours.
Something that immediately struck us was the salon’s minimalistic and deconstructed look. We were just admiring the interior when we saw that they were offering tea and pastries for waiting customers, which is a nice touch.
The salon also offers an impressive selection of treatments. For instance, they offer solutions for issues like dry and frizzy hair, damaged scalp, split ends, rough textures, etc.
Styling-wise, their perming treatment caught our eye because the before-and-after pictures we saw were virtually night and day. Moreover, we interviewed multiple clients who availed of this service, and they were pleased with how long their curls lasted.
During the same interviews, we noticed that most of them highlighted their stylists, stating their attentiveness as one of their best traits. We also appreciate how they offer customers haircare tips and recommendations on what style to do based on their face shape.
However, we think that the salon’s customer service could be improved. A handful of the people we reached out to stated how some staff members can come off as rude and tend to be aggressive when it comes to hard selling.
Really satisfied with the result
“Did a cut+ wash here, and I was really satisfied with the result. The price is standard for saloons (around 60-80 for a cut). The salon is clean, and I had no problems with the staff.
Shoutout to Miss Fyna; she did an amazing job with my haircut, even though my description was a bit off.
I really liked the shampoo used in this saloon, too; it felt clean but not those “squeaky clean” types of shampoos. Might cop one later, haha.

A-Saloon+ is the slightly more upscale version of the A-Saloon brand, which is one of the largest hairstyling chains in Malaysia. Its location inside Aeon Mall is easily accessible via public transport—plus, they follow mall hours.
A-Saloon+ offers one of the most complete sets of salon services we’ve seen in Shah Alam. They do haircuts, styling, and colouring, as well as texture treatments, which includes digital perming and rebonding.
We reached out to their regulars and asked to see before-and-after photos of their hair after availing of the salon’s services, and the results are quite consistent!
We were especially impressed with the rebonding results, as the beautiful, shiny finish it gave the clients’ hair was still visible several months after the treatment. We also spoke to someone who tried digital perming months ago, and the playful and natural bounciness was still there!
Our main gripe here is the above-average prices, which can be attributed to its location. Also, we can understand the standard price range, as they have the results to show for it.
As much as it’s advertised as a luxurious place, however, we feel like the interior and overall ambience look and feel like your typical hair salon.

We immediately got high-end vibes from Le Classic as soon as we saw its designer-like interior—no wonder, it classifies itself as a hair studio instead of the usual salon. The elevated vibes bleed into their services, as well, as they don’t offer your usual treatments.
For starters, we appreciate that their treatments minimise hair damage. We asked one of their staff members about this, and they patiently explained to us how they’ve made their own methodology based on research about Japanese, Korean, and European techniques.
A great way they showcase this is through their bodily straight treatment, which uses fewer chemicals and heat but still achieves natural hair. We saw these results ourselves when we reached out to their clients, and they look way healthier and unflattened.
Our interviewees also highlighted how gentle the stylists were when handling their hair and scalp. A handful of these clients even noted how the stylists offered them haircare tips during their sessions.
However, these treatments don’t come cheap, and it doesn’t help that they’re located inside a mid-to-high-end mall like Setia City as well. With that said, we still think their services offer great value for money, as they have proven results without damaging one’s hair.

Medina Ladies Hair Beauty Salon is one of our trusted salons because of its reasonable rates. Also, their friendly and engaging stylists and staff members have grown on us, and we’re not alone in this!
Every time we visit this place, we feel like we’re hanging out with friends, whether it be with their staff members or other customers.
Furthermore, their selection of beauty services keeps us returning. They offer hair colouring, wash and style, rebonding, and keratin treatments.
We can also vouch for the quality of their work, as we’ve had our hairstyles changed here more than a couple of times, and they were all hits. Other regulars who we’ve become friends with also praise this salon for its effective keratin treatments that last for more than a month.
As for its downsides, they mostly cater to women, which can be a bad thing, depending on who you’re asking. Moreover, we feel like their space is a bit cramped compared to other salons on this list.
If you’re someone who’s looking for a cheap and welcoming beauty centre, however, this is a fantastic recommendation.

The extraction portion was a little bit painful but I have a low pain tolerance so that was expected.
