Foret Blanc Patisserie is an online bakery that positions itself as a French-inspired artisan cake specialist serving KL and Selangor. From a bakery perspective, it stands out less as a walk-in dessert shop and more as a curated, design-focused cake studio built around delivery and celebration needs.
As a bakery, its strongest identity comes from its French pâtisserie foundation. The use of entremet (French mousse cakes), macarons, and chocolates reflects a technique-driven approach that prioritizes texture, layering, and refined presentation over overly sweet traditional cakes.
Beyond its French roots, Foret Blanc operates like a full-service celebration bakery. It offers birthday cakes, wedding cakes, corporate event cakes, and special occasion cakes, making it suitable for both personal milestones and professional events.
The bakery also expands its product range into more familiar baked goods such as cheesecakes, butter cakes, and fresh cream sponge cakes. This mix allows it to cater to both adventurous customers and those who prefer classic, crowd-pleasing flavors.
One of its defining bakery strengths is custom cake design. Customers can request tailored designs for different themes and occasions, and the bakery’s portfolio showcases a strong focus on visual craftsmanship and edible art.
In addition to cakes, Foret Blanc functions as a gifting-oriented bakery. It offers pastry gift boxes along with add-ons like balloons and flowers, turning it into a one-stop solution for celebrations rather than just a place to buy desserts.
Overall, Foret Blanc Patisserie operates as a modern online bakery that blends French-inspired craftsmanship with practical event-focused services. The brand name, meaning “white forest” in French, reinforces its aesthetic identity of elegance, minimalism, and celebration-driven baking.
Pro tip:
Be very precise and visual when requesting custom cakes. The bakery works heavily with aesthetic-driven designs, so referencing clear themes, colors, and example styles will significantly improve how closely the final cake matches your expectations.

As much as it pains me to say it, no matter how early you think you’re visiting Universal Bakehouse, you can already expect a queue forming up. We can’t blame the locals, though, as it’s home to a variety of tasty, freshly baked pastries—some of which feature Malaysian flavours!
A prime example of their Malaysian pastry is the gula melaka (palm sugar) and sea salt croissant. The two ingredients blend well, and the pastry itself has the perfect amount of crunch and airiness.
We also find it cool that from the outside, it looks like your typical bakery, but come inside and you’ll see a cosy cafe-like interior. Oh, and before leaving, make sure to grab yourself some freshly made soy milk—you won’t regret it!
Pro tip:
If you’re craving something on the savoury side, we recommend getting their minced beef and cheese hand pie.

If you’re looking for the prettiest pastries in Kuala Lumpur, start your search at Croisserie Artisan Bakery! From the moment you see their products displayed behind their glass counter, you’ll find everything perfect, from the drizzle of the chocolate to the flakiness of the croissant, etc.
One of the main stars of their selection is the feuillette, which is a French puff pastry filled with decadent chocolate sauce. However, their blueberry croissant tart remains our favourite because of its generous toppings of jam, berries, and powdered sugar.
Dining here is a treat as well because of its elegant interior decor, with its floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings. Plus, you’ll be tempted to stay in because their pastries are made for savouring!
Pro tip:
Bring a taste of Croisserie back to your home by ordering a jar of their garlic and parsley butter! These go well with just about every toasted bread.

Tommy Le Baker makes sourdough seem like an easy dish to make because it always seems to come out perfectly. Everything is nailed to a tee, from the crunchiness of the crust to the signature chewy texture of the inside.
You can get these loaves by themselves to bring home, but it’s better to experience them at Tommy Le Baker as toast for sandwiches. The roast ribeye steak is one of the most perfect examples of this, as the savoury juices of the slow-cooked meat seep into the sourdough.
They also offer a myriad of bakery staples, including brownies, cookies, and Danish pastries. If you’re looking for something more tart-y, you can’t go wrong with their apricot biscotti, but be sure to pair it with their long black coffee for the perfect combination!
Pro tip:
Order their sourdough loaves at least one day in advance to ensure that they’re made by the time you need them!

One of their best offerings we recommend as gifts is their box of 12 macarons, which come in different striking colours. They’re nicely packaged in a premium-looking box complete with a neat bow!
If you have a bit more budget to splurge, we recommend going for their mix-and-match cake slices! This way, you can sample a bunch of their flavours, including tiramisu, burnt cheesecake, butterscotch cookies, and more.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for last-minute gifts, be sure to place your order before 7:00 PM to be eligible for same-day delivery!

They even offer new items based on the season to keep things fresh for their loyal customers. For instance, during the holidays, you can find gingerbread and Christmas tree-shaped cakes on display!

Don’t miss out on their iced chai latte if you’re looking for something different in your coffee. It offers a subtle spicy note thanks to its spiced black tea.

Yin’s Sourdough Bakery and Cafe has multiple branches across the country, but their location in George Town is our favourite because of its old shophouse appearance. It still features remnants of its traditional appearance, with its exposed brick walls and jalousie windows.
As you may have gleaned from its name, this bakery specialises in freshly baked sourdough, which is great on its own but also acts as the perfect sponge for sandwiches. Meanwhile, their sourdough cookies offer the complete opposite, with their soft and chewy texture.
We also recommend getting one variation of their croissants because of their perfect crunchy exterior and airy interior. You can go with any of their flavours, but we recommend the almond with powdered sugar if you’re a sweet tooth like me!
Pro tip:
Pair your pastries with one of their refreshing Kefir Smoothies! They use fresh fruits and feature great combinations like mango and banana.

We discovered La Vie en Rose Pâtisserie when we were searching for the best mooncakes in Penang, but what we got was more than we bargained for! Aside from leaving with a box full of their beautifully designed mooncakes, we discovered a treasure trove of French pastries.
We immediately fell in love with their beignets, which were these deep-fried French pastries that house different types of custard fillings. To top it all off, they’re dusted with generous amounts of powdered sugar.
We’re also huge fans of its overall French patisserie look, with its bright pink walls and huge windows. It’s also a great spot for hanging out with friends over coffee and pastries, as it features tons of seating across its two floors.
Pro tip:
Before or after your pastry fix, we recommend stopping by the nearby Ghost Museum to witness spine-tingling ghost stories in full display!

It doesn’t get more nostalgic than Hiap Joo Bakery & Biscuit Factory! This Johor Bahru bakery has been around since 1919 and has been passed down through multiple generations to retain its classic banana cake recipe.
What’s more impressive is that they didn’t modernise their methods, as they still use wood-fired ovens to bake their pastries to a perfect crisp. The result is a perfectly moist cake with zero preservatives!
We also recommend getting their coconut bread, which you can bring home to fill with different spreads, whether it be butter, peanut butter, or jam!
Pro tip:
After getting your freshly baked pastries to go, you can head to the nearby waterfront and enjoy a scenic view while eating!
Christine’s Bakery – Kuala Lumpur

Christine’s Bakery is one of the best proofs that TRX has some of the best food in Kuala Lumpur. For starters, they bring freshly baked bagels to the table, which come in different sweet and savoury variations.
You can either have them topped with blueberry jam and sugar or go the savoury route and get the pulled beef bagel sandwich! If you’re coming with a group, however, we highly recommend getting their croissant pizza.
Christine’s Bakery is also a cafe, so you can pair your favourite pastries with iced coffee, matcha latte, or some good old Americano with cream.
Pro tip:
End your meal on a sweet note by getting their classic Italian cannoli!
