11 Spots that Offer THE Best Food in TRX

TRX is one of the most famous lifestyle destinations in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, a place where you’ll find the city’s business and entertainment districts. However, we’re not here to talk about numbers or anything like that—-we’re here to highlight food!

Exploring TRX is an exciting adventure for foodies, as you’ll get to find amazing restaurants that offer some of the best food in KL. Some take more effort to find while others are impossible to miss because of their long queues.

To make sure you don’t miss out on any of them, I’ve compiled some of my favourite spots to get food in TRX and explained why you would love them as well!

BananaBro is the ultimate curry spot where locals love to get their comfort food. Featuring a wide array of curries, side dishes and refreshing drinks, it’s not hard to see why!

What sets them apart from other banana leaf restaurants is their unlimited refills, which we’re guilty of taking advantage of more than a few times. You can’t blame us though, as their curries are super flavourful, often packing the right amount of spiciness.

It’s also one of the most affordable restaurants in TRX, so you won’t have to worry about burning a hole through your pocket even after filling your tummies. Plus, we love the overall warm and welcoming ambience, as we think it’s what makes this place family-friendly.

Pro tip:

If you’re visiting with your family, we recommend ordering their 4 Leaf Family Set. This comes with all the meat and side dishes as well as 4 refreshing drinks—now that’s a good deal!

It’s also the perfect place to check out when you want to warm your soul! Its flavourful broths, whether it be their shoyu, miso, tonkotsu or anything in between are extremely flavourful and they do a great job of coating the noodles.

Aside from ramen, you can also find a variety of Japanese staples, our favourite of which is their chicken karaage. They offer something called the Volcanic Karaage where the chicken is coated with several kinds of pepper, which is sure to make you break a sweat.

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to order something to share with the table, we recommend getting one of their gyozas. They offer both pork and shrimp gyozas, but regardless of which one you choose, you can expect amazing quality!

Tai Er is the place to be if you’re looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, and we know because it’s a famous restaurant in China that features 400+ branches! In 2015, they graced us with their first presence here in Malaysia, and they’ve been treating locals well ever since.

It’s hard to go wrong with anything from their menu but if it’s your first time, it would be best to stick with their magnum opus, the Chinese sauerkraut fish. Here, the common tilapia is decked out with amazing flavours, courtesy of a flavourful broth and a boatload of chillies.

If you’re looking to add something to your order that’s a little familiar to your taste, you can also order their surprisingly good chicken wings! Who knew that one of the best chicken wings in the city wouldn’t be served by a Western restaurant?

Pro tip:

Order a side of Enoki mushroom to pair with your Suncai fish soup! You’ll be surprised at how good this mushroom tastes when it’s drenched in this flavourful broth.

It offers various types of full-course meals, some of which are great for sharing, which we think are the best options in the restaurant. Here, you can just reach out to the table to get different types of Latin American delights,

After a savoury feast, you can get their delectable churros. These deep-fried bad boys are sprinkled generously with cinnamon sugar and they come with a side of decadent dark chocolate sauce—yum!

Pro tip:

Consider coming here if you love seafood, as they feature a raw bar dedicated to oceanic delights like scallops, tiger prawns, oysters and more!

If your tastebuds are urging you to grab something sweet, then Christine’s Bakery should be your next destination! This spot is easily one of the best brunch spots in KL thanks to its widely varied menu, boasting both sweet and savoury baked goods.

One of the highlights of their menu is the crozza, which from the name itself is a crossbreed between croissants and pizza. This gives you the flakiness of the famous pastry with the famous flavours of your favourite pies like pepperoni, cheese, etc.

They also offer a solid selection of coffee drinks that will get you up and going in the morning! There’s no wrong order here, but if you’re looking for something different than your typical cup of coffee, we highly recommend getting their Gula Melaka latte!

Pro tip:

End your meal on a sweet note by ordering their sweet triple chocolate croissant! If that’s not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, they also offer an amazing dessert called Sweet Sensation, which consists of chocolate, Nutella, banana and strawberries.

Elementary Restaurant and Bar will transport you into one of those classy pubs you’ll often find in London. It features a charming and dimly-lit interior, dotted with high-quality wooden furniture and exposed brick walls—but enough about its looks!

The real reason why you’ll feel like you’re in London is their dishes! They offer a wide array of English staples like Sheperd’s pie, fish and chips—the works.

Among their selection, however, our favourite has to be their weekend roast! It’s essentially a messy plate of sliced roast beef, grilled chicken and a boatload of sides like peas, broccoli, chips and bread—our mouths are watering just thinking about it!

Pro tip:

If you don’t want to go against your beliefs/diet but still want to treat your tastebuds to something savoury, we recommend ordering their veggie burger! You’ll be surprised at how meaty they make their patty—plus the spicy mayo sauce will set you just right.

Chonky Cookies is the perfect destination if you’re just looking for a place where you can get a quick fix for your sweet tooth. As soon as you’re near its counter, you’ll be captivated by the aroma of their freshly baked batches of cookies—I can even smell it now just thinking about it!

This place is faithful to its name, as its cookies are indeed chonkier than what other restaurants have to offer—think munchkin kittens, but edible! If their regular cookies aren’t big enough for you, they also offer a Super Chonky Cookie, which is the ultimate star of the show.

They also come in various flavours like chocolate chip, cranberry oats, double chocolate and more. Furthermore, they offer unconventional cookie flavours as well such as miso chocolate, which we unexpectedly love as much as we hate to admit.

Pro tip:

If you ordered more than you can handle, don’t worry because they’re extremely easy to reheat and have amazing shelf lives. Just be sure to put them in the freezer so that you can easily reheat them in your air fryer or oven.

If you’re looking for the best dessert shop in TRX or Kuala Lumpur, in general, look no further than dipndip! This is the ultimate sweet tooth’s paradise, boasting exquisite chocolatey offerings, from crepes to pancakes, waffles and more.

All of their offerings are sure-fire hits but our favourite has got to be their signature dipndip pancakes. These pancakes are drizzled with generous amounts of melted Belgian chocolate before being topped with whipped cream—and oh, they also come with a side of fresh fruits!

Another star of their menu is their sharing box, which is perfect for families and group of friends! The best way we could describe this is it’s a charcuterie board that consists of chocolate dips, pastries and fruits—think portable chocolate fondue!

Pro tip:

If the sight of chocolate-drenched desserts makes your spine tingle, don’t worry! They also offer a myriad of savoury dishes such as pepperoni and turkey and cheese pizza, waffle quesadillas (beef, chicken, smoked turkey) and more.

Lastly, they also offer a wide array of light eats that can satisfy both your tastebuds and hunger—plus, they pair perfectly with any of their drinks! One of their offerings is hands-down their Shepherd’s Pie, as it’s packed with flavour.

Pro tip:

If you’re looking for something sweet, we recommend getting a slice of their peanut butter cake! It’s super fluffy and they’re generously flavoured—just the way we like our cakes!

Yakiniku Kuro

Contact details: +60 3-3051 2319

Operating hours: Daily from 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM

Menu

Yakiniku Kuro is one of the best places to check out in TRX if you’re hungry as a horse, as you can grill as many slices of beef as you want (or as many as your tummy can take). They’re not your typical beef cuts as well, as they’re all Prime Angus grade.

We don’t need a certificate to verify this as well, as each slice of beef features amazing marbling and they’ll instantly melt in your mouth once they’re perfectly cooked on the grill.

Aside from beef, they also offer salmon and lamb to add more variation to your yakiniku experience.

Pro tip:

If you’re dining with friends, we recommend ordering their trio set meal, as they offer better value for your money in the long run as opposed to ordering multiple ala carte servings.

Warung Eropa

Address: Station Foyer, Level 2

Contact details: +60 16-709 2998

Operating hours:

  • Weekdays: 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM
  • Weekends: 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Menu

Warung Eropa offers the most authentic Balinese cuisine in all of Kuala Lumpur, and it’s not hard to see why since it’s been serving these authentic dishes since 2004 in Indonesia. Not only that but they also feature a Western element, allowing them to cater to broader audiences.

There are a lot of stars on their menu like lumpia bebek goreng, ayam kampung goreng and empal goreng. If you ask us, however, we think that the best meal to order is their bebek goreng Bali set, which consists of their signature crispy duck and fix-ins like rice and veggies.

Lastly, you can’t leave without trying their hearty bowls of soup. They offer various flavours but the one we like the most is their sop buntut original, which is a stew-like dish consisting of beef oxtail, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes and celery.

Pro tip:

Don’t miss out on trying their authentic Indonesian drinks as well like their kunyit asam and wedang jahe. Both are tasty and refreshing, with the former leaving a turmeric taste and the latter featuring a gingery note.
