Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur is one of the premier hospitals in the capital, with branches also located in cities such as Johor and Kota Kinabalu. It’s nationally recognised for offering high-quality healthcare services and state-of-the-art facilities.
These facilities are used for general and key clinical services, ranging from accurate imaging to rehabilitation, ophthalmology, etc. However, what impressed us the most was their robotics, which aided in surgery with their pinpoint accuracy.
We also reached out to previous and ongoing patients of this hospital, and one of the things they mostly bring up is the fast service. This can be attributed to the abundance of specialists on the team, as well as the convenient online appointment portal.
Of course, a premium hospital with various specialties, premium suites, and complete facilities, such as Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur, comes at a cost, and that’s its biggest disadvantage. The only way they make up for this is by accepting coverage from multiple insurance companies.

Pantai Hospital Penang is one of the more affordable private hospitals in the country, granted that it doesn’t have the fanciest rooms and facilities like Gleneagles. However, it remains widely renowned for its reasonably priced and high-quality patient care and services.
We sat down with some of their previous patients, and they highlighted how seamless the overall process of the hospital was. They were able to book their appointment online, and they were then met with the warm and friendly personality of their doctors.
Speaking of, the hospital’s doctors are arguably the biggest highlight of this hospital, thanks to their attentiveness and specialties. The expertise they possess here includes just about everything, from anaesthesiology to cardiology, and more.
However, some of our interviewees also noted that certain rooms and common areas in the hospital need repair or, at the very least, updating. For instance, the prayer room has some paint chippings and even mould, which are potential health hazards.

Subang Jaya Medical Centre resembles a 5-star hotel more than a medical facility. However, it’s a hospital through and through. It’s among the most sophisticated ones, offering advanced equipment and spacious suites.
For starters, they offer comprehensive facilities, including CT scanners and full-spectrum endoscopy systems. These are used for their wide selection of specialties, including neurology, orthopedics, endocrinology, dermatology, and more.
Previous patients have also noted the care and attentiveness they’ve experienced with their doctors. The same sentiments were also shared regarding the nurses who were highlighted as gentle, helpful, and prompt.
As for its downsides, the main issue we’ve heard from patient feedback is the attitude of some of the hospital’s receptionists. Although we haven’t experienced this ourselves, it’s still worth noting here.
Furthermore, their online appointment process is hindered by the slightly inconvenient email authentication step. This is where patients receive a message asking about their current condition, which, we think, is difficult for some to answer

“This is my 3rd time having been admitted to SJMC, and it has always met my expectations.
Hafiz, the food attendant, and his Indian partner are very helpful in providing the necessary daily food deliveries. Everything reached promptly, warm and with a smile.
Not to forget the nurses who covered the level 4 ENT Ward throughout my 5-day stay. All of the nurses have been very nursing and gentle with the BP checkup, IV medicine administration and consulting on how to use my nasal wash.

ParkCity Medical Centre was recommended to us by a friend who was recently admitted for three days. To our surprise, the first thing she told us as soon as we saw each other was how much she loved her room, which was a single executive room.
She stated that the room was private and extremely comfortable, not just for her but for her visitors as well. We also asked about the overall service, and she had nothing to share but praise regarding her nurses, noting their promptness and compassion.
We also reached out to other patients who consider this hospital their go-to, and they said that the main reason they trust this hospital is because of their experienced specialists.
They expressed their appreciation for the doctors’ supportiveness throughout their time in the hospital. A handful of them also told us how much they appreciated the detailed explanation their doctors provided every time they had a question.
The only downside to a private hospital like this, with its fancy facilities and rooms, is its pricey rates—plus, it doesn’t help that they’re conveniently located in the country’s capital. However, they do partner with various insurance providers.

“This was my very first hospital stay on 2nd March 2025, and I spent 4 days, 3 nights at ParkCity Medical Centre. From the emergency department to admission, the experience was smooth and well-handled.
• The Emergency Triage team was attentive to detail and ensured everything was addressed promptly.

KPJ Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital is one of the most accessible hospitals in KL, location-wise, because it’s strategically nearby other areas in the Klang Valley.
The hospital is widely praised because of its exceptional patient care, as seen in its rooms, even the shared ones. Aside from offering comfy beds and relatively spacious areas, these rooms come with daily meals.
Furthermore, the nurses are also highlighted by previous patients as the main highlight of their admission. They told us how caring, gentle, and prompt their nurses were, as well as being detailed in explaining updates regarding the patient’s condition.
The same traits can be said about their doctors, who have multiple years of experience under their belts. The selection of specialties present here is impressive—plus, the hospital has the necessary equipment to help doctors (and patients) with treatments.
The main drawback of this hospital is its sometimes “rude” customer service, which several patients frequently mentioned during our interviews. Some even noted how the staff members made the hospital feel like a military camp.
We also heard complaints regarding their appointment schedule not being followed, which results in long waiting times. To be fair, it’s a common occurrence in hospitals, but it’s still worth mentioning here.
