Top 10 Cat Cafes in Malaysia That Offer Good Food and Cute Vibes

As someone who loves vanilla lattes and cute kittens, I think that cat cafes are among the best inventions in the world. Picture this: infinite cuddles from adorable cats, the smell of brewing coffee 24/7 and a wide variety of pastries—what’s not to love?

Their abundance in Malaysia is one of the reasons why I thank my lucky stars every night, as I can visit them anytime I want and come home feeling refreshed. Oh, and did I mention how immensely in love I am with cats?

So call me your cat cafe expert for the day and let me share with you some of my best finds in the country. Whether it be cat cafes in Kuala Lumpur or Penang, here are the best places to cuddle with some cats while enjoying a cup of coffee in Malaysia:

Purradise Cat Cafe immediately won a special spot in our hearts because all of their cats are rescues! Not only that but they’ve been given such a beautiful and habitable new home in the form of the cafe itself, which offers a homey ambiance.

Aside from their mission to rescue strays, our favourite thing about this place is the absolute steal price they offer. For less than RM21, you can enjoy an hour’s stay inside the cafe along with a complimentary beverage.

Speaking of beverages, you can either choose from their wide selection of espresso-based drinks, non-coffee drinks and smoothies! Our favorite is their Kitty on a Tree smoothie, which consists of bananas, oats, honey and milk.

Pro tip:

If one hour isn’t enough to satisfy your cravings for cute cuddles, you can also purchase a day pass for only RM59! This also comes with a complimentary beverage so you can enjoy a drink while playing with their adorable rescues!

As soon as we first entered Munchkin & The Gang Cat Cafe, we knew we were in for a treat because of the friendly atmosphere.

While the staff are stellar, the main stars of the show remain to be the cute and cuddly cats who you’re free to interact with during your time here. These furry felines will instantly make you fall in love with their friendly personalities and harmless(?) appearances.

Keep in mind that you have to spend a minimum of RM25 to get to stay in the cafe and play with its cats. We have a feeling that you won’t have a hard time spending this amount of money though, as their menu consists of many tantalising drinks like their Biscoff latte!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to order something that can last you for a couple of hours with your friends, we recommend getting their chicken thigh bites. These come in 10 pieces and you can enjoy them in different flavours like honey, soy garlic, and gochujang.

Poppy Kat should be on your radar if you’re looking to meet a variety of adorable cats during your coffee time. All of their cats here are adopted, which is an instant A+ in our books as opposed to purchasing them.

Aside from its friendly cat residents, it’s widely beloved because of its wide selection of croffles. These pastries come in various sweet and savoury flavours, but if you want our advice, we recommend getting their Biscoff variation.

We also love the overall calm and welcoming vibe of the cafe, as it allows for remote work to be done in peace. We can’t promise that you’ll get to focus on your work 100% though, as their adorable felines will surely distract you with their cuteness!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to try a unique drink as opposed to your usual espressos, we recommend getting their Butterpop latte. It consists of an espresso shot, milk, butterscotch and real popcorn bits.

One of the ways Mao Catfe stands out is that they’re also a pet store with a grooming service. This way, cat owners can have their furbabies look their sharpest and dress them up with the most adorable clothes.

Visitors can also enjoy this place because of the play area on the second floor where all the resident cats are living their best lives. You only need to pay RM30 for 30 minutes in the play area or RM50 for an hour.

Their selection of snacks is praise-worthy as well, especially their toast series. You can’t go wrong with any of them but our favourite one hands-down is their Nutella banana cat toast, which comes with a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Pro tip:

If you want to pair your drink with something savoury, then you should check out their Mao bagel series! Meanwhile, if you want something you can share at the table, we recommend getting their grilled chicken gyoza!

Seri Talam Cat Cafe is one of our favourite spots to visit because of their affordable rates. For only RM10, you can enjoy an hour filled with cuddles and fun activities with their resident cats, all of whom have been rescued.

One of the most impressive things is that they’ve rehomed over 100 cats since opening! Providing a habitable home for each one and giving them a second chance at being loved by random people who visit the cafe every day.

Before or after stopping by the play area, you MUST check out their cafe first, as they offer a wide variety of drinks and quick bites. However, the main highlight of their menu is the classic kuih, which is one of Malaysia’s best traditional sweets.

Pro tip:

If you can’t get enough of their traditional Malaysian sweets, you can conveniently order them online through their official website!

Catonomy isn’t just a great cat cafe but it’s also a solid spot to get authentic Japanese dishes. It became a go-to spot of ours when we discovered their delicious rice bowls, which feature either chicken karaage, unagi, smoked duck or tempura—yum!

The cafe itself features a unique charm on its own thanks to it being an old converted shophouse. It offers a habitable environment for the cats and a relaxing place to stay for the customers while they’re enjoying their drinks so everybody wins.

Speaking of cats, the residents here are plentiful and of different breeds! We were also surprised by how interactive they were during our visit, as most cats have that patented “cattitude” that many cat slaves, er, owners will relate to.

Pro tip:

Be sure to follow their house rules such as turning off your camera flash and washing your hands before petting their cats! You can conveniently view this on their official Instagram and Facebook accounts where you’ll also find their menu.

Cuffymeow Cat Cafe

Cuffymeow may take the cake as having the cutest cats in KL because of their adorable chubby-cheeked munchkins. It’s easy to get carried away by these cute residents!

What’s not an exaggeration, though, is how delicious their selection of drinks is! For starters, they offer a wide variety of espresso-based drinks ranging from mocha to cappuccino and everything in between.

We can also expect a fun time every visit here because they have tons of board games. This, paired with their adorable cats in costumes and delicious drinks, is the perfect recipe for a fun time!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to order something more refreshing to beat the summer heat, you can order one of their sodas instead! They offer flavours like cucumber mojito, fuji blossom, yuzu lavender fizz and more.

Puchi Marry Cat Cafe (Coo & Riku)

Whenever I need to restock cat supplies, Puchi Marry Cat Cafe is always at the top of my choices. This cafe features a warm ambience and a spacious area where people can interact with their resident cats for free!

If you want to take your interaction a step further, you can also buy treats from the cafe for only RM9 and feed the cats! Use them sparingly though so that they’ll always have a reason to come back to you because you know how cattitude can be.

Even if you don’t interact with them, however, it’s still interesting to see these felines go about their day around the bunch of playground-like areas for the cats.

Pro tip:

If you’re planning on spending a couple of hours inside the cafe, we recommend opting for the day pass for RM70. This way, you won’t have to pay an additional RM6 every 10 minutes after your 30-minute pass expires.

Clawset Pet Cafe

If you’ve ever wondered if dogs and cats can get along, then Clawset Pet Cafe should be on your itinerary! As soon as you enter its doors, you’ll immediately be greeted by its adorable furry crew, consisting of both friendly (and sometimes lazy) cats and dogs.

Our favourite thing about this cafe is that we can bring our own pets here and watch them make new friends with the resident cats and dogs. It’s adorable to see how they can be hesitant with each other at first and end up becoming best pals in a matter of minutes.

The icing on the cake here is the widely varied menu, which offers both sweet and savoury items. For instance, you can order a chicken chop salad if you’re looking for something heavy and get their Nutella pancakes if you want to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Pro tip:

Since the cafe is located right by the Atria Shopping Mall, you can save money on transportation by riding the bus and dropping off at the mall’s bus station directly.

MagiCat Cafe

Operating hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM

We can’t make a list like this without including MagiCat Cafe, as it’s one of the only few vegetarian-friendly cat cafes in the country. Surprisingly, each of their dishes here tastes amazing like their mushroom carbonara and tomato-based spaghetti.

What blew our minds the most, however, was their plant-based burger because the patty tasted exactly like a grilled burger! Plus, it features all the fix-ins you’ll find in a typical burger like sliced cheese, tomatoes, lettuce and a secret sauce.

Of course, a visit to this place wouldn’t be complete without interacting with their super-friendly cats! You’ll find the majority of them living their best lives in the dedicated play area of the cafe while others will surprise you when they hop onto your table.

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to end your meal on a sweet note, we highly recommend ordering one of their daifuku, which are these cream-filled buns. You can either get their matcha or Biscoff-flavoured daifuku, both of which are great!

Rocky’s Cat Club

Address: 31, Lebuh Nanning, George Town

Operating hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM

Rocky’s Cat Club is always in our must-visit spots whenever we’re in the Penang area. The cute cat-themed dishes and beverages are must-tries!

This place is more than just a cat cafe, as they also offer cat-boarding services. Visit their social media pages to keep tabs of their events!  A favorite of ours are their yoga days where you can find your inner zen, as these furry rascals try to distract you.

Pro tip:

If you’re planning on commuting, the cheapest way is to ride the bus and drop off at the AJ324 Galaxy Ampang station. This will drop you off directly in front of the cafe.
