A Guide for an Amazing Day Out at Kampung Agong in Penang
Want to escape the city and breathe fresh air for a change? We present to you: Kampung Agong, a tranquil spot in Penang where you’ll be surrounded by tall coconut trees, paddy fields, and other kinds of beautiful sceneries.
If you’re not familiar with this place, we don’t blame you, as it’s one of the most underrated getaway spots in the country—until today. Join us here, as we shine the spotlight on Kampung Agong, from its best offerings to its nearby hotels, restaurants, and more!
Best Time to Go
Since Kampung Agong mostly consists of outdoor spaces, the best time to visit it would be during the dry season.
This usually runs from January to March and June to August, and during these months, you’ll get to enjoy all the pretty sceneries of the attraction in all their glory. However, keep in mind that this season is also when crowds flock toward Kampung Agong.
So if you want a more peaceful trip, we recommend visiting from April to May and September to November. Then again, this would also mean that you’ll be more likely to experience rain during these months so it’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons.
As for the best time of the day to visit Kampung Agong, nothing beats mornings. This is because it’s when the weather is more pleasant and there are more animals to admire like birds, who will serenade your mornings with beautiful chirps.
Meanwhile, if you want to make your trip extra memorable, you can visit during Pesta Menuai Padi or Rice Harvest Festival. It’s one of the most anticipated annual events in Malaysia and it will give you a more unique perspective on the attraction and Penang itself.

What to Do in Kampung Agong Penang
Create lasting memories with animals
One of the main highlights of Kampung Agong is its mini zoo, where you’ll get to meet cute and interesting animals, from birds to goats, turkeys and more. They say that the zoo holds 15 different species and we can attest to that since the land is huge enough to house them.
You can create lasting memories with these animals by feeding them their favourite snacks, taking photos beside them, or simply admiring them. If you want our advice, we recommend waking up early in the morning to see different kinds of beautiful birds.
Enjoy a scenic bike ride
The best way to get around this beautiful nature-centric theme park is by renting one of their bikes. They’re small, easy to maneuver and best of all, they’ll make you feel like you’re in an artistic film while the wind blows your hair during your ride.
Last time we checked, these bikes cost around RM10 to rent, but don’t worry! They’re well worth every penny, as they’ll let you save energy and enjoy the theme park from a different perspective—pretty cool, right?
Ride high-speed ATVs
If you’re looking for something with a little more kick than your regular old bicycles, you’ll be pleased to know that there are ATVs in the park as well! These bad boys will let you rip through any kind of terrain with ease—just be sure not to go too fast to avoid accidents!
This is a great way to experience a burst of adrenaline if the natural landscapes and overall relaxing vibe need to be more active to your liking. Plus, it’s a sure-fire way to make your trip extra memorable so there’s really no reason for you not to try it!
Take on the gigantic swing
Attached between two towering coconut trees is one of the most scenic swings you’ll see in your lifetime. The swing itself doesn’t get too much speed but the views that you’ll be treated to while you’re riding it are second to none.
This is because the swing is pointed towards a massive lush paddy field that stretches as far as the eye can see. Keep in mind that this is one of the most sought-after photo opportunities in the park so be sure to take as many pictures and videos while it’s your turn!
Relax by the pond
A major factor that makes Kampung Agong the peaceful sanctuary that it’s known for is its serene pond. This mirror-like body of water is mostly calm and its sounds will make you fall into an ultra-relaxing trance like no other.
Speaking of mirrors, at specific times of the day, you’ll find that this pond perfectly mirrors the towering coconut trees that surround it, which is pretty neat.
If you want to take the best photos with this pond, however, we recommend sitting on the transparent dome-shaped swing.
Treat yourself to a nice and quiet homestay
You don’t have to look far if you want to stay overnight, as the park itself features various homestays that are worth every penny.
These chalets and suites will make you feel like you’ve been transported back to a time when technology wasn’t as prevalent as today. Living like this will force you to be one with nature and interact with your loved ones more frequently than you would if you stayed in a hotel.
Wind down at Kampung Cafe
If you want to accompany your relaxation with a nice cup of joe, you should stop by Kampung Cafe. This place is a sanctuary for both coffee and nature lovers, as it lets you admire beautiful natural sceneries while you indulge in your daily caffeine fix.
They also serve an impressive selection of brunch items so if you’re feeling hungry, this can be a great stopover for you.
