As someone who has spent countless mornings and afternoons in these Insta-worthy cafes, I know a thing or two about the best ones to check out. So without further ado, allow me to help you find your next Instagrammable cafe in Kuala Lumpur!

Niko Neko Matcha is strikingly beautiful despite its simple yet alluring all-white interior, which could fit nicely into your feed regardless of your theme. As the name suggests, this “cafe” is your one-stop shop for anything matcha—and we’re not kidding!

The variety of matcha drinks on their menu is nothing short of amazing, as they all vary in creaminess, bitterness and overall aftertaste. You can also get different variations of this drink, whether it be lattes, tea or even mocktails.

If that’s not enough matcha for you, then you should also know that they offer a wide range of desserts that incorporate this spectacular ingredient. Personally, we love the mini matcha burnt cheesecake!

Pro tip:

If their branch in Bangsar is a bit out of your way, you can also check out their location in Chinatown!

It’s safe to say that the best way to capture an Instagram-worthy photo is to take advantage of the sun as a free source of light, and Pokok Cafe is the perfect place for that!

This glasshouse-inspired cafe features floor-to-ceiling glass and is enveloped by lofty trees making it aesthetically pleasing while providing a calming sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of city life.

In terms of their menu, Pokok offers a wide range of flavours and cuisines to choose from. A personal favourite is their “Big Breakfast” paired with their iced latte with additional caramel syrup.

Pro tip:

If you have a sweet tooth and you’re looking to pair your coffee with something delectable, we recommend ordering their croffle stack!

Lacher to-go is here to make your quick cafe run less boring! With its snug yet elegant interior, you’ll capture more than enough Insta-worthy photos while waiting for your perfect cup of joe.

Beyond the interior, their menu selections are also on the minimalist side. They offer sufficiently curated items, which I think is beneficial when you need an on-the-go caffeine fix before starting your day.

Speaking of the perfect cup of joe, their black coffee is a bestseller for a reason. With their single-origin espresso from Ethiopia, your taste buds will be treated to tropical fruit notes, with subtle hints of black tea blueberry.

Pro tip:

If you’re in the mood for dessert, their PETIT Black Forest cake pairs perfectly with the flavour profile of their black coffee.

103 Coffee will immediately welcome you into its doors thanks to its cosy and warm ambience. It features a good combination of bricks, windows and wood as well as an almost monochromatic colour scheme, allowing its patrons to take cool portraits inside.

Looks aside, however, this place is still a solid place where you can wind down and grab a nice cup of joe, whether it be hot or cold. Their expert baristas can brew just about every variation you can think of, from lattes to americanos, cappuccinos and more.

Furthermore, they also offer a wide variety of Japanese-inspired dishes like udon noodles, unagi and even smoked duck.

Pro tip:

The cheapest way to get to this cafe is by riding the bus and dropping off at the Komersial Radin Anum Bus Stop. From there, you can simply cross the street and walk towards 103 Coffee.

Ruma Puteh strays away from the usual look of cafes in the city and opts for a more garden-like atmosphere—and we’re all for it! From the white walls (Ruma Puteh translates to white house) to the colourful decor and more, something in this house is bound to end up on your feed.

Also, eating here feels like visiting a friend as opposed to dining in a restaurant and that may be because it’s a refurbished corner lot house.

The beauty of this cafe transcends into its menu as well, as it features simple yet masterfully crafted coffee drinks. Also, they offer a wide variety of breakfast favourites such as pancakes, croissants and waffles.

Pro tip:

Before or after your visit to this cafe, make sure to visit the nearby Titiwangsa Lake Garden. It’s one of the most beautiful parks in Kuala Lumpur and you can continue taking Instaworthy photos there!

When you decide to check out KL’s Chinatown (which you should), Yew Yew Coffee should be a must-visit! It’s a bit hard to miss it because of its low-key aesthetic so be sure to keep your eyes peeled—or you know, use Google Maps.

Good news if you’re planning on using this cafe as a filler for your Instagram feed though because both the exterior and interior feature an old-timey and charming aesthetic. It’s not the biggest cafe though, so you may have to play around with your angles.

Of course, it’s not only a looker, as it also offers amazing coffee and non-coffee drinks, all of which are freshly brewed. The real stars of the show, however, are the croffles, which come in different flavours.

Pro tip:

You can also check out their branches at 1Utama, LaLaport, Midvalley and Paradigm Mall if Chinatown isn’t on your itinerary.

Burrow BSC immediately proves its Instaworthiness as soon as you enter its elegant archway. You might as well call the archway a portal too, as it transports you into a picturesque cafe that features floor-to-ceiling glass windows surrounded by delicate greenery.

The overall rustic vibe of the cafe makes for a great atmosphere that you just want to spend countless hours in while sipping on your cup of joe. It also helps that their coffee is spectacular as well, as they’ve been brewed using freshly ground coffee.

The best way to get to this cafe is by taking the bus and dropping off at the KL1138 Bangsar Shopping Center (Timur) Bus Station. The cafe is located right by Jalan Senunduk Road, so you can simply cross the mall to get there.
