Big Singh Chapati should be on your radar if you’re craving Northern Indian food. For starters, they offer a wide variety of curries, with each one featuring different spice levels—remember, if you’re not sweating, you’re not doing it right!
These curries are perfect to pair with their buttery garlic naan, which is always freshly made so you can expect them to be super flakey and flavourful. Speaking of pairing, we also love partnering their chicken tikka masala with their round and flakey paratha—pure chef’s kiss!
Other favourites include pani puri, mutton curry and tandoori roti, all of which we’ve tried and loved as well. Lastly, since this is a fast food-type restaurant, you can expect quick service and affordable prices—win-win!

If you’re looking for even better value for your money, we recommend visiting them on Mondays anytime from 4:00 PM until they close to get their dinner set. This comes with a variety of Indian delicacies and costs less than RM15!

As you may have gleaned from its name, Moorthy’s Mathai is widely known for offering fresh banana leaf rice. This fragrant side dish is then paired with one of their fantastic Southern dishes like dhal, fried tenggiri fish and more.
You’ll get a whiff of what they’re cooking up in the kitchen as soon as you enter its doors, and your stomach will immediately begin rumbling to be fed. Among their offerings, their fish curry draws in a lot of customers because of its spicy and tangy flavour.
Of course, you can’t go wrong with Southern India staples as well like their chicken biryani, vada and dosa. If you want our advice, however, we recommend getting their chicken varuval, as it comes with a massive serving of dried curry and delicious fried chicken!

Since this is a famous spot for locals because of its cheap prices, try to avoid visiting it during rush hours if you’re planning to dine inside the restaurant. Alternatively, you can order online to avoid the almost always existing long lines during these specific timeframes.

Mantra Indian Cuisine is the perfect example of what we would recommend to someone who wants to get an idea of what Indian cuisine is all about. It offers one of the most varied menus we’ve seen in the area, offering staples such as chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani and more.
One of the biggest highlights here, however, is the wide selection of tandoori specialities, which are these succulent pieces of meat drenched in their aromatic spices. They’re also beloved for their seafood offerings with an Indian twist such as their fried pepper fish and garlic prawns.
We also love that they offer non-meat dishes for our vegetarian friends without cutting back on flavour and quality. A dish that perfectly encapsulates this is their bhindi masala, which is a stew-like dish consisting of okra and spiced tomato sauce—yum!

If you’re planning on visiting this restaurant, you might as well consider going on a vacation at the next-door Sunway Lagoon! It’s one of the most exciting theme parks in the country, featuring tons of slides, rides platforms to jump on.

The best part about this place is its variety of curries, which are perfect for pairing alongside their chicken rice and various other side dishes. Speaking of, the best side dish you can order here aside from their rice is their tandoori roti, which is always perfectly baked and flakey.
Their best offerings include their mutton, chicken and seafood sets, which are all drenched in their signature curries. Meanwhile, if you’re looking to avoid meat, we recommend getting their vegetable curry, which features the same spice and tanginess minus the meat.

When it comes to the OG Indian food spots in Subang Jaya, d’Tandoor is up there! They’ve been around since 1990 and have been serving delicious Indian food that stays true to Musghlai cookbooks—just the way we like it!
They offer a bunch of specialities, among which is their tantalising special biryani cake, which is exactly what it sounds like! Instead of being sweet like your traditional cakes, this dish consists of savoury biryani rice that can either come with seafood, chicken or lamb.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking to satisfy your seafood cravings, you can opt for their tandoori prawn zafrani. This massive prawn comes drenched in their spicy concoction of yoghurt, saffron and pepper—truly lip-smacking!
Pro tip:
If you’re avoiding meat, we recommend ordering their vegetable pakora as your entree. These are deep-fried veggies that are mildly spiced and dipped in butter, which are also perfect for pairing with their curries.

If you want authentic Indian food at its finest, then Sheesh Mahal Restaurant should be right up your alley! It offers a fine dining experience at an affordable price featuring some of Northern India’s best delicacies like tandoori BBQ, bihari chicken and chicken makhani.

If you’re looking for a no-frills eatery that will give you the best and most authentic flavours of India, then a trip to Laxshmni Bavan is called for on your trip to Subang Jaya. Here, you don’t have to pay more than RM20 to leave with your tastebuds and hunger satisfied.
One of their biggest draws is their wide selection of affordable banana leaf meals, which can either come with chicken or fish. Plus, the wide selection of curries is impressive, featuring different spice levels to cater to different tolerances—hooray for inclusivity!
We also love how they offer vegetarian options, which is always an A+ in our books. Lastly, they’ve nailed their chapatis down to a tee, featuring the perfect flaky texture that’s perfect to dip in one of their spicy curries—we’re salivating just thinking about it!

If you’re planning on commuting, we highly recommend taking the LRT and drop off at the SS18 tram station. From there, you just have to descend the station and cross the street to reach this restaurant!

The India Gate Restaurant really lives up to its name as entering it feels like going through a gateway to India thanks to its authentic dishes. From chicken fried rice to chicken biryani and anything in between, you can expect to find all the staples of this cuisine here!
Among their offerings, however, people keep coming back for their tandoori chicken rice, and we can’t blame them! Everything about this dish is nailed to a tee, from the fragrance and fluffiness of the rice to the tenderness of the boneless chicken.
Speaking of rice, this is one of the few places we’ve seen in the area that offers various Indian versions of this side dish. They offer basmati, mushroom, curd and ponni rice, all of which are perfect to pair with their delicious curries.
