Causeway is one of the most convenient car rental companies we’ve tried in Malaysia. From the online booking to dropping off the vehicle, our experience was without a hitch.
It was to be expected, given their modern fleet of vehicles. The cars—where none were over 3 years old, by the way—were well-maintained inside and out, so we didn’t have to worry about engine issues at all, despite long-distance travelling.
They even have multiple drop-off and pick-up points in Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, including airports and hotels, making the handover seamless. But since they’re booked and busy, pick-ups sometimes take a couple of minutes longer.
Still, having options from sedans to minivans helps all sorts of customers, from solo travellers to families. Add the free cancellation, book now and pay later option, comprehensive maintenance programs, and 24/7 roadside assistance, and they’re golden!

The large fleet of Suria Car Rental accommodates all sorts of needs, from quick to long vacations in Malaysia. Honestly, we were surprised by what we saw, as there are small, medium, full-size, and luxury vehicles.
Additionally, they can accommodate large families of up to 12. Things are a breeze here for city-to-city driving, based on our experience, since they have lots of car rental locations in KL, Johor, Selangor, Sabah, and Pulau Pinang.
Moreover, one-day rental is available, but for selected locations only. It’s fine, since their chauffeur service makes up for it, available for 4 to 12-hour rentals, and can take you around KL and Klang Valley.
Pick-ups and drop-offs have been smooth, especially if you’re coming from the airport. We also found them reasonably priced, but the thing is, not all cars are in the best condition, so we recommend a rigorous inspection of your rental before driving off.

If you’re travelling to Kuala Lumpur and would like a roadtrip experience, Goso Rent A Car is worth checking out. They provide drop-offs in KL, Penang, and JB, which is awesome for epic drives, but they’re limited to KL-only pickups.
When we checked out their fleet, we were pretty happy. The car rentals we’ve seen have been affordable and in good condition, despite not all being new models.
Another good thing is the variety, including turbocharged engines that can take you to the expressway. The star of the show was the option of gas-powered and electric vehicles, which adds more options.
Their drop-off points in Penang and JB are conveniently located in airports, which is ideal for international customers. It’s even more convenient if you’re staying in KL, since there are several locations in the city.
Communication-wise, we think they could improve, especially after hearing about deposit issues. To make sure you get your deposit, we strongly recommend documenting the rental car for a smoother handover.

Starting with their offerings, they’re a car rental and car funder in one. Basically, you can earn while lending your vehicle to them, which is then rented out to customers in JB.
Frankly, we love it. There’s always a variety of car brands and models at your disposal, including compact, sedans, SUVs, and minivans. It makes them available for solo travellers, couples, and large families.
However, they fall short on availability. Since they don’t have branches outside of Johor, pickup, delivery, and drop-offs remain inside the city—not to mention there are limited locations to meet.
We do appreciate that they keep the vehicles in good condition, which was noted by several customers we spoke to. Except for the slow deposit refunds we heard about during our surveys, everything else has been a breeze.
