A Delightful Escape to the Hills

Raju Hill Strawberry Farm: A Delightful Escape to the Hills

If there’s one produce that Cameron Highlands is most famously known for, it’s strawberries—as evident by its abundance of strawberry farms. However, no other place embodies being a haven for lovers of this fruit quite like Raju Hill Strawberry Farm.

It’s one of the best places to visit in Cameron Highlands and we’re here to tell you why. From what to expect to where to stay and eat nearby, we’ve got you covered!

Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a family-friendly escapade or you just happen to love strawberries, here’s a guide to Raju Hill Strawberry Farm:

Best Time to Go

The best time to visit this farm is when the strawberries are ripe for picking, which is typically between December and February.

During this time, you’ll have a higher chance of taking beautiful photos and picking delicious sweet berries, regardless of their variations. Keep in mind, however, that these months are also considered the peak dates so expect to encounter denser crowds on the farm.

If you don’t want to encounter large crowds during your trip, we recommend visiting the farm from late October to November instead. This season may not be the best date for strawberry picking, but it does provide more pleasant weather—perfect for long walks!

Meanwhile, if you have no other available dates than the peak season, it’s a safe bet to visit during the weekdays.

Weather-wise, Cameron Highlands may encounter random rain showers throughout the year so it would be best to consult your handy weather app before visiting.

How to Get There

Trains: Riding the train is one of the most cost-effective ways of getting to the farm. You can take a train from KL Sentral Station to Ipoh Railway Station but from there, you have to ride a taxi or a bus to Tanah Rata.

From there, you can either walk towards Raju Hill Strawberry Farm, which will approximately take 10 to 15 minutes or take a short taxi ride.

Buses: Taking the bus is another cheap way of getting to the highlands. Several bus providers offer rides from Kuala Lumpur to Tanah Rata like Unititi Express Express and CS Travel Express.

From Tanah Rata, you can walk your way to the strawberry farm or hail a taxi for a faster and more comfortable experience.

Taxi/Grab: You can also take a taxi from Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands if you want to prioritise comfort and speed. However, do keep in mind that this is the most expensive mode of public transportation you can take to the highlands.

Car rental: If you feel more comfortable being in charge of your own itinerary, then renting a car should be right up your alley! Doing this will let you make all the stopovers you want while providing yourself and your loved ones with a private and comfortable ride.

Renting a car is also great because it will let you explore other attractions in Cameron Highlands with ease like the Time Tunnel Museum and Sheep Sanctuary. It’s also the most scenic way to get to the highlands so win-win!

What to Do in Raju Hill Strawberry Farm

Chill by the farm’s cafe

One of the best ways to slow down time on the Raju Hill strawberry farm is by chilling at Raaju’s Cafe. It’s here where you can enjoy a variety of delicious pastries, cakes, shakes coffee and non-coffee drinks while admiring beautiful views of the farm and the surrounding areas.

Since this cafe is located on a strawberry farm, you can also expect it to offer dishes that make use of this sweet fruit. For instance, they offer a delicious strawberry milkshake which is the freshest and sweetest version you’ll ever taste in your life!

Bring home some delicious strawberry-based products

— Media credit: quakzhiyuan

You can’t leave this farm without bringing home some of its freshly made strawberry-based products. These products range from jams to chocolate-covered strawberries that you can bring home to someone notorious for having a sweet tooth.

There’s also a teh tarik (tea packet) that incorporates the flavour of strawberries—yum!

Plus, the best thing about shopping here is that the prices won’t burn a hole in your pocket so you can buy tons of strawberry-based products!

Pick your own strawberries!

— Media credit: jol_lye

Of course, a trip to this farm wouldn’t be complete without handpicking some of its juicy strawberries. This is the reason why we recommend visiting during the peak season, as you’ll get to choose from a larger variety of these strawberries as opposed to just one or two species.

After carefully inspecting and picking your strawberries of choice, you can then weigh them at the counter and purchase them to bring home to your loved ones. You won’t just be paying for the strawberries but for the experience as well, so we must say that it’s well worth the price.
