5 Food Blogs in Malaysia You Should DEFINITELY Be Following

With a vibrant street food scene and a wide variety of hidden cafes and restaurants, it’s hard to keep up with the best spots to eat in Malaysia. Thankfully, there are several food bloggers here who took the job of shining the spotlight on must-visit places to eat across the country.

I realised the importance of these influencers and their blogs/vlogs when my friends and I couldn’t decide where to eat, so we decided to check TikTok. Seeing a restaurant being talked about on these platforms gave us affirmation that our money won’t be wasted.

So, whether you’re a foodie yourself or you just don’t know where to eat, continue reading to discover the most reputable food blogs in Malaysia:

Penang Foodie serves as a beacon for Penangites who are looking for restaurants or just about anything in the state since their content covers more than just food. However, they’re mostly known for highlighting some of the island’s hidden and well-known cafes and restaurants.

They showcase these spots through POV-style TikToks and Instagram Reels that make their viewers feel like they’re at the place itself! The short usually covers everything, from the moment they order to how the dish is made (if possible), down to the presentation.

You can also check out their official website and skim through their countless listicles to discover your next foodie destination. They cover topics such as the best restaurants to get nasi lemak, romantic date spots, pastry shops, and everything in between.

Faezah Binti Sufian, better known as “adikfoods”, is every foodie’s mom/home chef. Although she states that she’s not a chef in her IG bio, her countless cooking videos say otherwise, as her cooking videos never fail to make us drool when we’re doom-scrolling at night,

We think it’s because of her proven and tested formula, where she starts with a close-up shot of her finished product before taking the viewers through the steps. These clips are paired with either music or her soothing voiceover.

She also uses ASMR to a tee by incorporating satisfying sounds like the stirring of a stew, the pouring of a drink in a glass, etc. What’s great about her content is that you’ll unknowingly be more familiar with Malaysia’s cuisine!

Here’s a pro tip: before visiting Malaysia, browse KL Foodie’s IG and TikTok pages because chances are, you won’t know where to eat when you land in Kuala Lumpur. This blog covers just about every spot to eat in KL, from its humble cafeterias to its fine dining establishments.

What instantly hooks us to KL Foodie’s content is the interaction between the cameraman and the person behind the counter. Aside from offering an in-depth review of the food, these videos often highlight the people who make everything happen, whether it be a cook or the owner.

Of course, it also helps that these shorts offer glorious close-up shots of the famous dishes being showcased! If you want a more descriptive piece of content, however, we recommend checking out their guides and listicles on their official website.

Bangsar Babe

Don’t be fooled by Bangsar Babe’s relatively smaller following compared to the previous entries on this list, as she’s an OG food blogger in Malaysia! She has been running her website since 2011 and has been a reputable source of information on lifestyle and food in Bangsar.

Throughout the years, she has ventured out into other places in Malaysia, but her focus still remains on Bangsar and all its hidden gems. What her blogs do differently from short-form videos is that they take the readers on the journey with them, making them feel a part of the trip.

We also love the variety of content she offers as opposed to the usual listicles found on most blog sites and IG pages today. She also does food reviews on her IG, which follows the more trending format of compressed content in a 30-second to one-minute video.

Arianna Kitchen

If you’re a sweet tooth like me, then you’ll enjoy Arianna Kitchen’s content! This up-and-coming influencer’s niche is dessert cooking videos, and the best part is that she provides the complete recipe in the caption of each post.

What’s captivating about her content is the straightforward yet detailed steps she shows in quick cuts. Each step is also accompanied by text on screen while her narration is heard in the background alongside relaxing music.

We also love how there aren’t any particular parameters on what she covers on her blogs. You’ll find both local and international desserts, with some non-dessert dishes sprinkled here and there.
