When it comes to searching for the best cafes in Kuala Lumpur, TTDI is always a safe bet, as its selection of coffee houses is ever-growing. This township sees several cafes, bars and restaurants that come and go, and as much as I hate to admit it, I’ve gone to most of them!

With that being said, there are a handful of establishments that have become part of my list of choices whenever I’m looking to unwind in the area. And since you were kind enough to click on this blog, I’m going to share them with you!

So whether you’re looking for a hearty brunch, premium coffee or a peaceful ambience, here’s everything you need to know!

The Bread Bar

If you’re one to pair your cup of joe with freshly baked pastries, then The Bread Bar will be right up your alley! Among all their pastries, however, you have to try their sourdough loaves, as they’re perfectly airy and fluffy—plus, they go well with their butter!

Furthermore, they offer both light snacks and hearty meals that are sure to quench your hunger while satisfying your tastebuds. Some of their best dishes include their handmade pasta, duck confit, double cheeseburger and seabass.

The best part about this place is that you can end your meal on a sweet note thanks to its aforementioned selection of pastries. If you don’t know what to order, our advice would be to go for their burnt cheesecake, as it’s super silky and crumbly—plus, it comes with matcha cream!

Pro tip:

If you’re on the go or you’re looking to order something for the whole table, we recommend getting their Baker’s Box. This box features six different pastries that you can handpick yourself so you can either get the same croissant 6 times or try as many of them as possible.

If you’re looking for someplace fancy to drink your coffee in style, then Cafe-Bistro David is one of the best options for you! Featuring a wine cellar-like interior, this place will immerse you with its classy and cosy ambience—and you can take cool photos as well!

The food here is great as well, as they’re presented in creative ways akin to those you’ll find in fine-dining restaurants. Plus, you’ll get to choose dishes that aren’t your typical brunch items, which include pasta, ribeye steaks, soups, oysters and more.

Pro tip:

You can also visit this place by sundown and enjoy their grill upstairs where you can enjoy different types of charred dishes like squid, lamb shanks and more. Furthermore, they also offer a wide array of house-pouring wines!

Common Man Coffee Roasters

Common Man Coffee Roasters is one of the best options for coffee connoisseurs, as they offer just about every variation of the beverage you could think of. Whether you’re looking for brewed coffee or espresso-based drinks, you’re guaranteed to find something that will suit your palate.

You can also expect the same premium quality when it comes to their food, as they boast classic brunch items like your favourite avocado toast. 

Meanwhile, you can also indulge in their mains if you’re famished. For instance, if you’re craving something juicy and savoury, you can’t go wrong with their classic smashed burger! 

Pro tip:

If you want to end your meal on a sweet note but don’t want to break your healthy diet, we recommend ordering their acai bowl. This consists of healthy ingredients such as sliced bananas, granola and coconut flakes!

Mukha Cafe

Mukha Cafe should be on your radar if you’re looking to try something different than your typical cup of coffee. Here, you’ll be treated to the wonders of Yemen cuisine, which are greatly showcased from their coffee down to their dishes.

For starters, they offer a qahwa pot, which is a traditional Arabic coffee that features more fruity and nutty notes. Furthermore, they also offer Yemeni coffee, which is notably more earthy and aromatic.

Don’t fret though, as they still offer classic variations like long blacks, lattes and cappuccinos! If you’re not too fond of coffee, however, you can also try out their chai tea or their matcha latte, which is made with fine green tea.

Pro tip:

If you’re ordering their coffee, we recommend adding a dash of gula melaka (palm sugar) to your drink! It leaves a distinct type of sweetness to your drink that will make it taste and feel different than your typical cup of joe.

Dough and Dolce is synonymous with freshly baked pastries and brunch, as they’re one of the most well-known bakeries/cafes in TTDI, or Kuala Lumpur for that matter. As soon as you enter its cute yellow doors, you’ll be greeted by the whiff of their baked goods displayed behind glass.

From apple pies to chocolate cakes, custard tarts and sea salt brownies, their variety is quite impressive, to say the least. Their bestseller, however, isn’t really a pastry, but a grilled cheese sandwich, one that comes with a side of rich tomato soup—our mouths are watering already!

Coffee-wise, their selection is a bit limited but it’s made up for by the quality! They offer delightful espresso-based drinks including cafe lattes, Americanos, flat whites, cappuccinos and more.

Pro tip:

If you’re feeling hungry, we recommend ordering their big breakfast meal! This consists of mushrooms, eggs, toast, sausages and beef strips.

Neutrals TTDI

Neutrals TTDI is one of the most Insta-worthy cafes in Kuala Lumpur, featuring a minimalistic interior that boasts polished cement and an overall monochromatic look. Its simplicity doesn’t end there, as its coffee selection is pretty straightforward too.

They offer some of the most famous espresso-based drinks in the book like Americanos, white coffee and mocha. However, one drink that immediately piqued our attention the first time was their whey protein latte, which is great if you’re bulking!

Speaking of bulking, it would be impossible to leave this cafe without gaining a few pounds thanks to its amazing selection of food. They offer big breakfast meals, sandwiches, rice bowls as well as sweet treats like chocolate chip cookies and burnt cheesecakes.

Pro tip:

One of the cheapest and easiest ways you can get here is by riding the bus and dropping off at the Komersial Tun Fuad (3) bus stop. This will drop you directly in front of Neutrals TTDI.

Aperture TTDI

Aperture TTDI provides its weary travellers with an oasis amid a busy street, as it’s located on the second floor. Here, you can choose from a wide array of coffee like mocha, cafe lattes and more, and wind down in their cosy little shop!

Furthermore, this hidden gem will warm your soul on a rainy day by offering authentic Thai dishes. You can’t go wrong with any of their dishes, but one that you MUST try while you’re here is their pad kee mao thaley, which is a stir-fried noodle dish consisting of squid and veggies.

They also offer a wide array of panini sandwiches if you’re looking for something lighter that’s familiar to your tastebuds. 

Pro tip:

If you’re too tired to head outside but still want to get a taste of their freshly baked cookies, you can order them from the cafe’s official online store! It’s also here where you can find their boxes of tarts that are perfect for gifting.

Quartet TTDI

Quartet TTDI is the place you can visualise when you think of brunch and coffee thanks to its extensive menu. For starters, they offer amazing brunch meals that aren’t just tasty but filling as well such as carbonara, chicken and chips, eggs benedict and more.

If you want their best offering, however, we recommend getting their pulled pork sandwich. This, paired with one of their drinks sodas is one of the best combinations you can order!

Aside from sodas, they also offer a solid selection of coffee drinks such as long blacks, cappuccinos, lattes and more. Furthermore, you can also order different non-coffee beverages such as matcha latte, mango coconut and our personal favourite, lychee rose!

Pro tip:

If you’re on the go but you still want to enjoy their delicious iced coffee, don’t fret! They also sell bottled coffees that have great shelf lives!

Frisky Goat Bakery Cafe

Don’t be fooled by Frisky Goat Bakery Cafe’s name, as you won’t find any goat-based dishes here! Instead, you’ll be greeted by a wide array of all-day breakfast meals—that’s a fair trade, right?

One of their bestsellers here is the big breakfast plate, which consists of everything you need to boost your day, from eggs to sausages and everything in between. This is originally a for sharing platter but we won’t judge if you finish it by yourself—I know I’ve done it several times.

If you’re craving something sweet during your coffee session, however, we recommend ordering their waffles and French toast. Moreover, these pair perfectly with their masterfully brewed white/black coffee!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to drink something refreshing during your afternoon tea time, we recommend ordering their amazing chilled fruit juice! 

Liserra Coffee

Liserra Coffee is another sanctuary for coffee lovers like me, as it offers a cosy and welcoming space that will immediately make anyone feel at home. Furthermore, there’s always a satisfying aroma of freshly brewed coffee that adds to the overall warm ambience.

Of course, the main reason why you’ll stay here is their collection of specialty coffee, which covers just about every variation in the handbook. From your simple Americano to lattes and more, you can expect to find your go-to cup of joe here.

Furthermore, you can expect to leave this place with a full stomach, as they serve some amazing meals and snacks. As simple as it is, however, we think that their grilled cheese is their best offering!

Pro tip:

If you’re coming with friends and you want to order something for the whole table, we recommend getting a plate of chicken karaage! 

Bayang Coffee

Bayang Coffee is one of the most affordable cafes you can visit in TTDI or Kuala Lumpur for that matter. Don’t be fooled though, as this cheap price tag doesn’t define their products—in fact, it’s mind-boggling to taste how good their coffee is at this price point!

Their selection is impressive as well, featuring freshly brewed espresso-based drinks like long black, piccolo latte, cappuccino, flat white and more. Moreover, they offer iced/hot matcha and chocolate for all the non-coffee people out there.

This widely varied coffee menu is accompanied by a solid selection of all-day breakfast meals. As a sucker for these avocado toast and croissants, this menu really does put a smile on my face!

Pro tip:

If you’re craving something sweet but don’t want to go too crazy with the sugar content, we recommend getting their light crispy waffle. It balances out the sweetness by adding fruits like strawberries and caramelised bananas.

Artisan Roast Coffee TTDI

As you may have gleaned from its name, Artisan Roast Coffee TTDI offers specialty coffee but don’t fret! You won’t have to burn a hole in your wallet to enjoy them.

These coffees are expertly made by their well-trained baristas who can whip up everything from cappuccinos to flat whites and everything in between. Moreover, you can personalise your drink even more by choosing between a nutty or a fruity coffee bean.
