If you’re a die-hard carnivore like I am, then Momotalo Yakiniku should be on your Kuala Lumpur checklist. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not particularly picky with my meat but sometimes, it’s nice to be spoiled with premium cuts, which is what this restaurant offers.

Whether you’re going for the tenderloin or the short ribs, you can expect melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and superb marbling. If you are feeling extra luxurious, however, you can’t go wrong with ordering their premium Wagyu beef, which just tastes immaculate.

Furthermore, we love the overall cosy vibes of the restaurant, allowing for a more intimate and homey dining experience. Not to mention that the staff are also as attentive as they come!

Pro tip:

If you’re planning on commuting, we recommend taking the bus and dropping off at the Desa Sri Hartamas Bus Stop. From there, all you have to do is cross the street and voila, you’re at Momotalo Yakiniku.

Taisyu Yakiniku is a no-frills Yakiniku spot that we visit whenever we’re craving grilled meat but don’t want to burn a hole in our pockets at the same time. Here, you’ll be seated outside with your cooking apparatus taking the form of a makeshift grill—hey if it isn’t broken, right?

Don’t be fooled by this unassuming appearance, however, as this restaurant still features a variety of meat, whether it be beef or pork. They may not be as premium as Wagyu, but they’re still flavourful and most importantly, fresh!

The overall laid-back ambience of the place makes it a great spot for a night out with friends as well! Plus, you can order some beer and other alcoholic drinks to turn your dinner into a night to remember (or forget!).

Pro tip:

If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend ordering their beef tongue! You can skip this if you’re squeamish, but trust us, you won’t regret it since it’s well-marinated, tender and easy to eat!

The Kyanpu offers a unique Yakiniku experience wherein you’ll get to dine like you’re on a camping trip. It doesn’t get as laid-back as sitting in a camping chair, enjoying the brisk wind while grilling up some high-quality pieces of meat!

Speaking of pieces of meat, we’re impressed with the variety they offer, ranging from your traditional pork belly to chicken satay and more. Regardless of which you choose, however, you can expect that the meat will be juicy!

We also love how they offer a myriad of side dishes and refreshing drinks that go perfectly well with their grilled meat. We’re particularly fond of their fresh corn and king mushrooms because they do a great job of absorbing the flavours of the charred meat.

Tokyo Bijin Yakiniku will immediately make you feel at home with its warm and welcoming vibes, which is just the start of what would be your amazing dining experience.

We’re still amazed at how this restaurant manages to maintain reasonable prices even though the types of meat they offer are of premium quality. We’re talking about Wagyu, tenderloins, and short ribs that each have fantastic marbling—just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

If the meaty flavours are starting to overwhelm you, we recommend ordering one of their salads to balance things out! They offer various kinds but one of their bestsellers (and a personal favourite of mine) is the bean sprout tofu salad.

Pro tip:

If you’re visiting with friends, family members or any large groups, we recommend ordering one of their party sets.
