6 Restaurants that Offer the Best Xiao Long Baos in Klang
As a self-proclaimed foodie, I can’t help but have favourites along the way of my countless food adventures. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with xiao long baos, and I always make it a point to order at least one serving whenever I get a chance to.
Because of this obsession, I’ve been to tons of xiao long bao spots in my area of Klang, from Chinese restaurants in Kuala Lumpur to eateries in Selangor. I can’t say that I’ve never been disappointed though, as there were places that I honestly regretted visiting.
To help you avoid the same mistakes I made, I’ve made a list of the restaurants that did satisfy my cravings for this bao. So whether you’re a fan of Chinese food or you just want to munch on broth dumplings, below is my definitive list of Klang’s best XLBs!
Din Tai Fung – The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Address: Lot 6 .01.05, Pavilion
Contact details: +60 3-2148 8292
Operating hours:
- Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM
- Saturday and Sunday: 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM
Din Tai Fung is so famous for its xiao long bao that most people consider it synonymous with the dish. We can’t blame them though, as this place serves an impressive selection of these soup broths, whether they be sweet or savoury.
One perfect example of this is their xiao long bao, which we think is nailed down to a tee. We love how soft the outer layer of the dumpling is to the point where biting into it provides a satisfying burst courtesy of the flavourful broth.
We also love how they offer vegetarian options like the red bean and yam xiao long bao. Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete DTF experience without ordering their chocolate xiao long bao, which is the perfect way to end your meal here.
Pro tip:
Pair your xiao long baos with a side of their shrimp egg fried rice! Alternatively, you can order fried pork chop on top of the rice for a meatier flavour as opposed to the distinct seafood taste of shrimp.
Dragon-i Restaurant – AEON Bukit Tinggi Shopping Centre

Address: Lot G53, Ground Floor, Aeon Bukit Tinggi Shopping Center
Contact details: +60 3-3324 0888
Operating hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM
- Friday to Sunday: 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM
With an assortment of Shanghainese food, it’s hard to pick one favourite at Dragon-i Restaurant but their xiao long baos are definitely in the top five! We feel like every bao that comes out of their kitchen is made with love because of how photo-worthy they are.
Each bite into these pockets of soup and tender pork meat is satisfying. We feel that it features just the right amount of broth and the pork meat itself always tastes fresh.
Also, we feel like we’re a bit biased here because Dragon-i is one of our favourite spots to get authentic hand-pulled noodles.
Pro tip:
If their location at AEON Shopping Mall is out of your itinerary’s way, you can also check out their branches at The Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Desa Park City, Mid Valley Megamall and IOI City Mall.

Paradise Dynasty’s xiao long baos immediately stand out because of their cute and vibrant colours. These colours aren’t just for show too, as each one signifies a specific flavour and boy, do we love all of them!
We won’t go over all of them but we’ve got to mention our favourite ones: the cheese (yellow), garlic (grey) and truffle (black) baos. These flavours infuse the broth and pork meat the best.
However, it would be a crime to talk about this restaurant and not suggest its dim sum. You can either play it safe and try their best-selling pan-fried pork dumpling or try vegetarian favourites like the steamed vegetable dumplings and steamed red paste buns.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking to end your meal on a sweet note, order their pan-fried pancakes with red bean fillings! You can also opt for the chilled mango pudding if you want something sweet and cold!
Shanghai Street

Shanghai Street is a great option if you’re not looking to spend too much money on xiao long bao without settling for less. The only thing we’d change about their version is the thick wrapper but the flavour of the broth and the tenderness of the meat makes up for this.
We also have to shine the spotlight on its other Shanghai signatures like their savoury special noodles. If you don’t know which one to get, we recommend getting the SN004, which mixes these authentic noodles with tender chicken and spicy sesame sauce.
You can also pair your xiao long bao with one of their wontons. You can either get pork or shrimp wontons, both of which go perfectly well with their signature sesame sauce.
Pro tip:
For dessert, we recommend ordering the glutinous rice cake topped with brown sugar. If you find it too sweet for your liking, you can also order deep-fried fritter dough for only RM3 apiece.
Feng Tai Yuan

Feng Tai Yuan is another affordable xiao long bao spot that doesn’t cut corners when it comes to quality. For only RM7.50, you’ll get a set of four baos, with each one being packed with mouth-watering broth and flavourful ground pork.
Aside from xiao long bao, this place is famous for its homemade noodles and we can totally see why! These noodles are coated with delicious savoury sauces or drenched in flavourful broths and come with generous amounts of meat.
Whether you get wet or dry noodles, you have to pair it with a side of their dumplings. Speaking of dumplings, make sure to get a small serving of their ginger slices, as they can add another layer of flavour to your dipping sauce.
Pro tip:
If you want something sweet to end your savoury meal, we recommend crossing the street to Dao Desserts Kuchai Lama. This place offers an assortment of traditional sweets like dao, brown sugar soft serve and tang yuan.
Canton Boy

If you don’t eat pork but still want to satisfy your cravings for soup dumplings, Canton Boy should be right up your alley! It offers a delicious Shanghai xiao long bao that substitutes pork with chicken and features a soup called superior broth.
Although it’s the only xiao long bao on their menu, we still felt like including it here because of its wide variety of steamed dim sum. For instance, if you grow tired of your chicken xiao long bao, you can also get their steamed prawn dumpling and salted egg siu mai.
Meanwhile, if steamed isn’t really your style, you can get one of their fried dim sums. For dessert, we highly recommend their matcha blueberry layer cake, which is also steamed!
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for something more Western, the best thing you can order is their lemongrass chicken skewer. But if you want a unique spin on a Western classic, we recommend getting their chicken wing stuffed with prawn paste.
