The 5 Best Korean Restaurants in KL to Feast Like a K-Drama Star

Authenticity of Cuisine - Priority was given to restaurants that offer an authentic Korean dining experience, focusing on traditional flavors and dishes that reflect genuine Korean culinary practices.

Ambiance and Service - We selected restaurants that provide excellent customer service and have an ambiance that reflects the spirit of Korean dining culture.

Variety of Menu Options - We considered restaurants that offer a wide range of authentic Korean dishes. This criterion ensures an exploratory dining experience for both newcomers and connoisseurs of Korean food.

Customer Reviews and Ratings - Feedback from previous diners played a crucial role in our selection process. We looked for restaurants with consistently positive reviews and high ratings, highlighting their reliability and quality.

So there I was, binge-watching the latest K-drama, when a scene of sizzling samgyeopsal and steaming bowls of bibimbap had my stomach singing louder than a K-pop concert. I swear it was growling in Korean (aigoo, right?).

And that, my fellow foodies, is when I vowed to never let my screen have all the fun. I needed—no, I deserved—to feast like those K-drama characters!

After an intense Googling session, I’ve found so many Korean restaurants in KL. And I’m not lying when I say that our team tried them all (for the sake of research, if you know what I mean), and helped me narrow down my list to the absolute best ones!

Well, I’m not gatekeeping anything, so read on and fulfill those K-food cravings—you deserve it!

How much does dining at Korean restaurants in KL cost?

First off, the variety of GUI GUI’s menu is something else. We tried some classic bulgogi, kimchi jjigae, and beef meats that come with side dishes, and it could easily rival what I had in Korea last year.

Also, from what we’ve gathered, folks are really into the authenticity of the place. They really rave about how everything, from the service to the vibe, just packages the whole Korean dining experience perfectly.

What we like more here is their staff, who are super helpful. They willingly explained the menu in clear English, made recommendations, and were quick on their feet with refills and requests.

What’s keeping us glued to this spot, aside from the food, is how accessible it is—right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s bustling center.

However, we’re just a tad hesitant about the wait times during peak hours, while some of us feel the set-up can get a bit snug when it’s packed.

But balancing that, the experience, and grub more than makeup for it. We went in with high hopes and walked out, planning our next visit.

Pros

  • Authentic taste
  • Varied menu
  • Helpful staff
  • Central location
  • Great atmosphere

Cons

  • Long wait times
  • Cramped space at peak hours

Customer Reviews

Impressive Korean dining, great service, cozy cool atmosphere

“First time having Korean food, was really impressed, service was great and the food was excellent. Awesome restaurant where they cook certain dishes in front of you. Really comfortable seating, a super cute and “cool” atmosphere, would highly recommend if you love Asian food but want something just outside of the chaos of china town”

Generous portions, quality food, and fast service

“Really good food, fast and good service, nice atmosphere.

We ordered set 1, for 2 people (girls) it was more than enough, we came in at lunch time and we didn’t have breakfast, so if you don’t generally eat a lot i think the sets are pretty big.

Both the meat and the side dishes were good and the Kimchi pancake with cheese was also good. Highly recommend to come with more people so you can try more things .”

HAN Modern Korean Grill is the ultimate slice of Korean culinary excellence in KL. What caught our eye, aside from the sleek and modern decor that sets the perfect mood for a chill dinner, is their unique take on Korean cuisine.

They’ve got this fusion thing going on that’s just mind-blowing. I’m telling you, no one in our group can get enough of their seafood and scallops pancake, premium beef set and prime short ribs.

Moreover, the people we chatted up there couldn’t stop raving about their fresh and high-quality meats as well as their great service. We were thrilled about the ambiance HAN offers too; it’s classy yet casual, so it’s perfect for both dates and group dinners.

And the location’s pretty convenient, by the way—nestled right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur—but still offers a laid-back vibe away from the hustle.

If we’re nitpicking, some of us found the menu a tad overwhelming at first glance. And, in the spirit of keeping it real, the fusion flavors might not hit the mark for purists looking for traditional Korean grub.

Pros

  • Fusion Korean dishes
  • Classy ambiance
  • Attentive service
  • Convenient location

Cons

  • Menu can be overwhelming
  • Not for traditionalists

Customer Reviews

Good for group dining, professional service

“I went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday for dinner for the first time. Of course it’s best to go by making a reservation especially for a big crowd of 12 pax. They suggested for us to go for 2 sets of family beef set. The taste and cooking doesn’t disappoint us. Two waiters served us very well. We were happy with their service. Very professional. So, this won’t be our last visit. Definitely will come back again. I do recommend this place. Now, we’ve found our new Halal Korean BBQ spot 😊”

Exceptional service and superb food

“If i could give a higher rating, I definitely would. We went there as a family of 7 and we do not make any reservation, but we were lucky go get a table there and was treated like a ‘prince & princesses’ Food here was definitely superb! 💯

Our chef was Imran Khan. Kudos to him for serving us well and willing to go extra miles just to make our dinner delightful. TYSM Han Korean Grilled.

We’ll definitely return. (already missing all the mouth-watery meats). So much love from, 🇸🇬“

Gangnam88 over in Solaris Mon’t Kiara is a complete game-changer if you’re all about that vibrant Korean pop culture vibe. Their walls are plastered with K-pop memorabilia; it’s like dining in a hip Seoul music video set.

Now, their BBQ sets are top-tier, and we dove into bulgogi, jae yuk, and some marinated galbi that had us reaching for more non-stop. Chatting with the regulars there, the consensus is clear: Gangnam88 is an experience.

Plus, the staff is great with their stuff, keeping the soju flowing and helping with the grilling of the meats. We walked out of there seriously impressed with the lively atmosphere, and we didn’t mind that we all smelled like grilled meat.

And although it’s a ride away from the city center, it’s a spot that’s definitely worth the detour.

Now, for the real talk, some of us felt the playlist could be a nudge too loud, especially if you’re after a convo. And, given their popularity, you might have to deal with a bit of a wait—it’s worth it!

Pros

  • K-pop ambience
  • Quality BBQ sets
  • Engaging staff

Cons

  • Loud music
  • Potential wait time

Website

Ju Ga & Cook focuses on home-style cooking that’s both soulful and authentic. We sampled some homely stews like pork mandu soup and stir-fried pork rice that made us think we could get another round.

Its homey vibes are something we all agreed on, and that’s great, as are those other customers we were able to talk with. It’s like you’re a guest in a Korean home, not just another customer.

We appreciated how Ju Ga & Cook offers a quieter, more intimate setting. It’s kind of like an oasis of calm, perfect for those looking to escape the city’s buzz.

However, it’s worth noting that the focus on home-style dishes means you might not find the flashy fusion or BBQ offerings common in other Korean spots.

And, while the serene atmosphere is a plus, the quieter, down-to-earth vibe might not jive with those seeking a livelier dining scene.

Moreover, while the location within Plaza Damas offers a variety of parking lots, it’s also a popular spot, adding to the competition for space.

Pros

  • Home-style Korean dishes
  • Warm, inviting atmosphere
  • Attentive and friendly service

Cons

  • Limited fusion/BBQ options
  • Tight parking during peak hours

Authentic foods, cozy space

“Firstly, I gotta say: the pancakes and kimbap here are the best!

A Korean friend recommended this restaurant coz she said its one of the most authentic and closest to the taste back home.

Gave it a try and not disappointed at all. Everything here we ordered was so good!

It’s kinda difficult to find samgyetang, it’s even harder to find good samgyetang in Malaysia. This hits the spot!

Sadly, the restaurant is kinda small.”

— Alex Lim, Google Review

Delicious and authentic Korean cuisine

“Love the Korean food here, kimchi taste so good, crunchy cabbage and I like kimchi with light sour taste, tofu kimchi stew taste so good. Vegetable seafood pajeon crispy of the outside and soft of the inside, balance of flour and chives proportion. Smell good. Lastly, I love brown rice. One of the best Korean food on town.”

K-Fry Urban Korean is where you’re getting the real deal if we’re talking authentic. Their menu is like a deep dive into Korean cuisine, of course, and we were absolutely blown away by their kimchi jjigae and the crowd favorite, spicy cheese fried chicken.

Now, service-wise, these guys are on point since everyone we chatted with mentioned how prompt and friendly the staff were. Moreover, more people from the restaurant left the place with big smiles, raving about the food and planning their next visit.

And about getting there, it couldn’t be easier—it’s nestled in Suria KLCC, so it’s pretty much a no-brainer to find. It’s super accessible for anyone looking for a Korean food fix.

We’re just iffy that space can feel a smidge cozy when it’s packed, and you’ll sometimes wish there was a tad more room between tables. Nevertheless, we weren’t bothered too much given the excellent time we were having!

Pros

  • Authentic Korean flavors
  • Friendly and prompt service
  • Easily accessible location
  • Wide variety on the menu

Cons

  • Can feel cramped during peak times
