12 Family Dinner Spots in KL That Even the Pickiest Kids Will Love!
Kuala Lumpur is one of those places where you won’t run out of options for places to eat—and we mean that in the most literal way. It feels like the city’s selection of restaurants is expanding by the day, which we can see as a double-edged sword.
On one side, you have all the choices in the world but on the other hand, it’s hard to filter out which ones are worth checking out. I’m no expert but through trial and error (coming in the form of family dinners), I’ve discovered some of the best restaurants the capital has to offer!
So if you have kids who are hard to please when it comes to food or you’re simply looking for your next family dinner destination, here’s a list of spots to check out in KL!

It’s rare to see a vegetarian spot that’s beloved by children as well but The Hungry Tapir does it so effortlessly. We can see a lot of reasons for this, but the main one is how they prepare these dishes, breaking the stigma of what most people perceive as vegetarian food.
It also helps that they offer dishes that are sure-fire hits for kids like mac and cheese and their version of fried chicken entirely made out of mushrooms—pretty neat! Adults can also enjoy a plethora of their offerings like their salad bowls, burgers and more.
The overall fun and bright ambience of the restaurant/cafe is also worth highlighting! Filled with neon-lit signs, potted plants, and brightly-painted walls, the place glows with this charm that the entire family can appreciate while digging in their food.
Pro tip:
If you’ve always wanted to try satay, one of Malaysia’s most iconic street foods, but can’t because of its meat ingredients, you’re in luck! The Hungry Tapir offers a vegetarian version that replaces the meat with hedgehog mushrooms.

They also serve a variety of meat-free dishes like their vegetarian mac and cheese! Meanwhile, if you’re looking for something healthy that you can share with the table, you can order the veggie spring rolls.
