We also love how they offer substitutions for their milk such as soy and oat—we do love an inclusive establishment! Speaking of inclusive, they also offer a wide array of non-coffee drinks like teas, iced chocolates and fresh juices.
Personally, the real highlight here is the selection of food, which rings true whether you’re looking to get breakfast or lunch. They have proven and tested staples like avocados on toast and cheese toasties as well as fancy dishes like surf and turf.

There’s one drink here for every palate but if you ask us, everyone should try their flat white at least once, as it’s one of their bestsellers for a reason! It offers the right amount of creaminess while maintaining that kick of bitterness from their locally sourced beans.
Speaking of locally sourced, you may know where they get these beans because they come from Common Man Coffee Roasters, another famous cafe in KL. Don’t worry though, as they also offer an iced matcha latte if you want a break from coffee.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking to pair your coffee drink with something sweet, we advise you to order a slice of their burnt cheesecake. Meanwhile, if savoury is more your style, you can also order their chicken mushroom pie—yum!

Antipodean Coffee courteously brings the flavour of Australian cafes to Malaysia with its hip and enticing menu. Starting with the coffee, you can expect all your favourite variations here, whether it be cold brew, iced cappuccino, or americano—the works.
It’s not surprising why their coffee is so good too, as they’re sourced from Merdeka Coffee, which is considered among the cream of the crop in the scene. With hints of fruits and nuts, these coffee drinks will treat your palate to a whole different range of flavours.
You’ll also get a kick out of this place if you’re a huge fan of brunch thanks to their hearty all-day breakfast meals. Among these offerings is one dish ripped straight out of an Aussie cookbook aptly called Antipodean Kiwi Breakfast, which consists of bacon, toast, scrambled eggs, etc.

If their location at Bangsar Village is out of your way or it’s already packed with people, you can also check out their branch at the Mid Valley Megamall. To reach it, all you have to do is ride the train and drop off at the Mid Valley station!

Meanwhile, if you’re not into coffee, you can still appreciate their attention to detail by ordering one of their fresh juices. Or if you want to start happy hour lately, you can order one of their bottles of beer—after all, it’s never too early to party, right?
Their selection of light meals also makes them one of the best brunch spots in Kuala Lumpur. So whether you’re craving a salad, some toast with eggs on the side, tacos or anything in between, this place is one of the best options for you.

If their food menu isn’t enough to satisfy your breakfast cravings, you’d be pleased to know that they also offer more than decent coffee! They have several variations under black, white and cold brew, all of which are worth checking out.
However, if you’re more of a juice kind of guy for breakfast, you can check out their “Stolen Recipe” menu section. Here, you’ll find tons of smoothies that use fresh fruits, nuts, ice cream and milk—don’t worry, we’ve tried them all and they’re all great!

We consider Nutmeg not just as a proven and tested cafe, but one of the best bakeries in Kuala Lumpur (kuala lumpur bakery) as well! This is because aside from offering delicious coffee, they’re also home to some decadent cakes that will satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth.
As soon as you enter its doors and see these cakes displayed behind the glass counter, you’ll immediately feel like a kid again. They also serve other pastries like pies and croissants if cake isn’t really your taste.
Whichever meal or pastry you try, however, you can expect them to have the perfect beverage to pair your order with. For instance, you can either order one of their cups or coffee, their tea by the pot or their chocolate drinks—now that’s variety!

Operating hours: Daily from 10:30 AM to 9:30 PM
Cost: $$
Of course, we had to include a cafe that boasts local Malay flavours on this list and we couldn’t think of a better option than Chinta by Chinoz. Although it’s a young spot, we have a feeling that it’s here to stay because of its authentic local brunch options and coffee variety.
Starting with the food, you can expect to find Malay staples like ayam rose, sambal sotong and more. However, you can’t leave without tasting their nasi lemak, which coincidentally, is Malaysia’s national dish, so you have to try it at least once during your visit to the country.
They also ditch the usual pastries you’ll find in Western cafes in place of local desserts like their delectable kuih, one of the most famous traditional Malay sweets you can try. Don’t worry though, as they also offer modern cakes like apple cranberry.
Pro tip:
We highly recommend ordering their mee rebus if you’re looking to eat something hearty to start your day right. Furthermore, the serving sizes here are quite generous so make sure not to order too much food!

It’s more than just a looker too, as its menu is just as deserving of the spotlight, with its delicious brunch items like cakes, pasta and salad. There’s no wrong order when it comes to this menu but there is one perfect item and that is their softshell crab burger—you won’t regret it!
Meanwhile, their beverages are just as varied as their dishes, as you’ll find anything from classic espresso-based coffee drinks to teas and matcha lattes. If you’re up for it, they also serve a myriad of mocktails that give new meaning to day drinking.

Furthermore, they offer a myriad of beverages ranging from espresso coffee drinks to juices and tea! Their coffee selection alone is enough reason to check out this place, whether you’re a fan of americanos, iced lattes, cold brews and everything in between.
The place itself is worth highlighting too, as it’s as Instagrammable as a cafe can be, featuring moody lights and minimalistic colours and designs. Plus, they’re pet-friendly so that’s an automatic A+ for us!
Pro tip:
If you’re ordering their signature French toast, make sure to pair it with their flat white coffee—you won’t regret it!

The Huckleberry is home to some of the finest cups of coffee in Bangsar. One particular drink of theirs that we love is their latte, as it features that patented art that you’ve seen countless times while scrolling through social media.
Aside from their coffee, they’re mostly known for their superb pastries, all of which are equally tempting! From their chocolate cake to their pecan pies and cupcakes, everything is worth sacrificing your diet for—depending on your willpower, of course.
They also serve amazing brunch food, one of which is their famous cheeseburger, which features the fattest patty we’ve ever seen.
Pro tip:
We recommend taking the bus if you’re planning on commuting. You can drop off at the Bangsar Shopping Centre Bus Stop and from there, you can enter the mall to find the cafe.
