13 Subang Jaya Cafes Worthy of Being Added to Your Morning Routine

Subang Jaya is quickly hailed as one of the go-to summer destinations in Malaysia because it houses the country’s best waterpark, Sunway Lagoon.

Among everything Subang Jaya is known for, however, we feel like being a coffee haven isn’t as advertised in travel brochures as we would like. This is such a shame given how many cafes this city has kept me and my friends company throughout the years—hence this list!

To give these underrated establishments their flowers and to help you discover your next hangout spot in the city, here are Subang Jaya’s best cafes:

Christine’s Bakery

Christine’s isn’t just a great place to get a cup of coffee but it’s also a fantastic spot to satisfy your sweet tooth! However, we do recommend straying away from your usual here, as they offer unique signature drinks like matcha espresso and pandan latte.

Pastries-wise, their biggest highlight is their crozza, which is a mixed breed between pizza and croissants. Instead of your traditional pepperonis and margheritas, however, their flavours include wagyu beef, seafood and our favourite, sweet sensation!

Sweet sensation consists of sliced bananas, strawberries, blueberries and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup. Pair this with one of their signature drinks and you’re golden!

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to order something for the entire table, one of the best dishes you can get is their truffle mushroom pasta. They also offer clam aglio olio if you want to add a dash of seafood flavours to your meal.

Jibby & Co is a cafe/restaurant with an impressively varied menu from all-day breakfast meals to lunch and dinner favourites, etc. They also offer a solid selection of drinks that can pair with any of these aforementioned meals!

We love their breakfast classics, like their “Hot Chick”, which consists of three stacks of pancakes complete with fresh fruits, crushed Oreos and other sweet goodies. If you’re looking for something healthier, you can opt for their poached eggs with salmon!

Meanwhile, if you’re craving something savoury, their massive Brooklyn burger is one of the best dishes you can order. This meaty sandwich consists of pure grass-fed patties, American cheese, maple glazed bacon strips and their in-house chilli sauce—yum!

Pro tip:

End your meal on a sweet note by ordering their spectacular “Nutella Volcaramelo”. It’s a messy plate of Nutella fondant decorated with fresh strawberries, crushed Oreos, pistachio and a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream.

One drink that perfectly encapsulates what this cafe is all about is their chocolate milkshake called “The Nephew”. This milkshake is filled to the brim with its signature choco base before being topped with whipped cream along with a generous drizzle of dark chocolate sauce.

Aside from sweet drinks, however, Garage 51 offers a myriad of brunch meals, ranging from light to heavy, to satisfy anyone’s cravings. From burgers to pasta, avocado toast and more, you’ll find something to your liking here!

Furthermore, they serve some of the most beloved local traditional sweets, one of which is their pisang goreng XL. The dessert is essentially deep-fried banana fritters but what makes this version different is its massive size and its side of delicious and silky ice cream.

Don’t fret though, as the cafe still serves some brunch staples that you may have grown accustomed to like fish and chips, fried chicken and a variety of pasta. Plus, they offer a wide array of espresso-based coffee like Americanos, lattes and cappuccinos.

Pro tip:

If you’re on a date, one of the best things you can do to get the best value out of your money is to order one of their couple sets. Depending on your choice, these sets will already come with drinks and desserts!

Naj and Belle is one of the best places to start your day thanks to their wide selection of brunch meals. For instance, you can kickstart your morning by ordering their big breakfast meal akin to those in English diners, featuring eggs (your choice of cooking), salmon, sausages, etc.

What they’re mostly known for, however, is their innovative watermelon cake recipe, which they introduced here in Malaysia. As you may have gleaned from its name, it features a slice of watermelon in between its layers of soft sponge cake.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a complete cafe without featuring coffee drinks and thankfully, this cafe features a wide variety of them! From lattes to long blacks, cappuccinos and more, their offerings are guaranteed to give you your caffeine fix of the day.

Pro tip:

If their branch at SS15 is out of your way or too crowded for your liking, you can also check out their physical stores at Bangsar and KL East Mall.

To end your meal on a sweet note, we recommend ordering one of their desserts like the affogato or the apple crumble. If you want our advice, however, you MUST order their rich chocolate brownie—you can even add on a scoop of their premium vanilla gelato!

Their best offering, however, is hands-down their croissants, which can come in their plain form, as a sandwich for turkey ham and cheese or as a dough for pizza. Their pizza croissants aren’t huge, but they are super flaky and airy!

Drinks-wise, you’ll find the usual espresso-based coffee like piccolo lattes, cappuccinos and Americanos. If you’re not into coffee, they also offer matcha lattes, iced/hot choco and freshly squeezed juices!

Furthermore, your peaceful experience in the cafe will be accompanied by one of their heavy English breakfast meals, which boast toast, beans, sausages, eggs and more. Aside from that, you can also enjoy a wide array of pastries freshly baked to perfection!

Usually, we’d recommend their waffles but if you ask us, the best item from their menu is their french toast, especially their banana butterscotch flavour. If you’re more into savoury breakfasts, you can also enjoy their French toast with pulled beef.

Pro tip:

Order one of their chilled juices if you’re closely monitoring your sugar intake! These are 100% freshly squeezed and contain zero sugar.

Their coffee selection doesn’t disappoint as well, as they offer a myriad of espresso and handcrafted coffee. You can get your go-to drink, but you can also try something new like their Pretty Buzzing coffee, which consists of honey, lemon, soda and two shots of espresso.

Pro tip:

If you’re hungry as a horse during your morning visit, we recommend ordering their signature Breakfast for Me item. It consists of huge chicken sausages, 2 scrambled eggs, hash browns and sauteed veggies—if this doesn’t get you started on your day, I don’t know what will!

We’re not here to revel in its looks, however, as our favourite thing about this place is its selection of brunch food. For starters, they offer tons of cakes ranging from lemon poppy to cheesecakes, chocolate and everything in between.

Regardless of which flavour you order, you have to pair it with one of their soul-quenching coffee drinks. They have the best baristas in town so you can expect to get just about every espresso-based drink such as mocha, piccolo latte, flat white, dirty latte, etc.

Pro tip:

One of the best dishes you can order if you’re coming with friends is their Margherita pizza. You can’t go wrong with this classic and it’s perfect for sharing!

For starters, their selection of food ranges from local favourites like nasi lemak to usual brunch items like waffles and bacon, chicken sandwiches, omelettes—the works. On top of that, they also offer cakes that help to end your savoury meal on a sweet note.

Their drink selection takes a backseat here, as they only have three types of coffee, namely: black, coffee milk and Dutch coffee. Not to worry though, as they make up for this by offering a variety of refreshers and tea!

Consider coming here if you’re craving something savoury but don’t want to eat real meat! They offer an amazing vegan burger that features a beefy patty that tastes just like the real thing—plus it comes with pickles, tomatoes and their signature homemade sauce.

Coffea Coffee is the ultimate coffee connoisseur’s paradise, as it features one of the most varied menus we’ve seen in Subang Jaya. For starters, they’ll let you choose your beans, which can affect the nuttiness and fruitiness of your coffee—pretty cool!

As for the variations themselves, you can expect everything from cafe lattes to cappuccinos, flat whites and more. However, we do recommend trying their signature drinks to try something new like their peanut butter matcha latte and double mint chocolate chip latte.

Your hunger will be satisfied here as well, as they offer an amazing selection of brunch meals, one of which is their ham and cheese croissant—our personal favourite. Moreover, you can help yourself with their amazing burgers, pasta, pizza and salad if you want something more filling!

One of the fastest and easiest ways to get here is by riding the LRT and dropping off at the SS15 Tram Stop. From there, you just have to descend the station and walk for a couple of minutes to reach Coffea Coffee!
