Solo Review: Regus, MY
Renting or buying office space, especially for a new business, can be way too expensive to cover with a person’s initial capital, either from his savings or divided with his friends.
Furthermore, it’s a hassle to purchase furniture and computers for bookkeeping and order fulfilment. And not to mention, you would need to meet with your team every now and then.
Fortunately, you can find a lot of offices or coworking spaces to work in. These can already have most of the things you need such as super-fast Wi-Fi, desks, and amenities.
But, instead of showing you the many office space rental services in Malaysia, we will solely be focusing on Regus, a company that has gained international prominence in the industry.
So, here we will discuss the company in detail, explore its pricing, and more to help you decide whether or not its services are excellent to drive your business forward.
Company Information
Regus is an office space rental company that caters to both startups and existing companies. It aims to give clients a place of work, to make them thrive, and to easily connect with the professional community.
It has been around for thirty years and grown to have well over a thousand workspaces with 2.5 million clients in the world to date.
These are located in populated areas like city centres, transport hubs, business parks, and service stations. Wherever you go or travel, you can find a business space where you can work.
Their workspaces are cosy and neat but vary in design in various areas. They can be customized for clients, like if they’d want to add more space or areas for their growing number of employees.
Also, at every location, they have a friendly and knowledgeable staff that can assist customers with their office and business requirements—to make them comfortable to work every time.
The Number of Regus MY Locations, Offices, and Rooms
In Malaysia alone, Regus has 39 different locations you and your team can work in, from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, regardless of your company’s size and goals.
And below is a quick overview of how many locations, spaces, desks, and rooms Regus Malaysia has as of this time of writing:
Rental Units Offered
Regus has four product offerings to suit entrepreneurs, businessmen, and companies. They are office spaces, coworking spaces, virtual offices, and meeting rooms.
- Office Spaces
The primary space they rent out to clients are office spaces. You can exchange ideas, collaborate, and sell your product from them. You can also get a company phone number and address to boot.
Their office spaces are both functional and aesthetic for clients, which helps to boost their productivity and comfort level. You can choose a standard office layout or have it modified to your liking.
Modifying your space may be necessary for the future as needs change and product or service demand rises. To change the fit-out, accessories, or equipment, you can just let the team know.
- Coworking Spaces
Whether you work alone or are handling a small team without an office to work in, this may be the solution for you.
Coworking space is like an informal version of office space. This is where you work alongside other like-minded professionals on the same desk or around them.
If you find a favourite spot or table, you can request that the team make it your ‘hot desk.’ In other words, it will be reserved for you and/or your team.
It may be a great option for small teams since you may find a new client at the same place. Furthermore, you’ll be charged less every hour or month, compared to renting office space.
- Virtual Offices
If you have a business that’s done virtually online, let’s say an online shop or language centre, you might not need an office at all or for now.
However, there are certain things you need to do to grow or manage your business. For example, you can get a lot of mails, receive calls from potential clients, or need to meet often with your team.
This is where having a virtual office can help. With it, you automatically get a phone number and business address in a Regus location you choose.
Also, they can solve the problems we have mentioned thanks to their call-answering service, mail handling and forwarding service, and since you can use their community and office spaces too.
- Meeting Rooms
For team leads and employees who just need to meet at a certain place and time, a meeting room is excellent. This allows you to pitch new ideas, brief the team, or resolve a difficult issue.
Additionally, meeting rooms can be used by clients to host workshops for people who have signed up.
You get all the good perks with this, including speedy Internet, video conferencing devices, and even catering service. Of course, you also have a friendly crew to assist you in case you need them.
The downside of renting a Regus meeting room is you can’t access business lounges, offices, or community spaces, unlike the other types we listed.
- Membership
A membership with the company allows you to work, meet, and host in any Regus locations. It’s akin to an unlimited pass wherein you can work as little to as much as you’d like.
To reserve an office space or coworking desk, you can download and use their app. Through it, you can see the available slots in real-time so you can drop into work without any hassle.
Aside from an unlimited pass, you can also get discounts, benefits from their health and lifestyle partners, and airport lounge access.
However, you would have to pay an additional fee, besides the space option you’ve picked, to be a Regus member.
Prices By Office Locations in Malaysia
With Regus, you can conveniently rent office space closest to you and your employees’ homes at a decent price. Make sure to visit their site to get the updated rates they offer, since these may be subject to change. If you want a bespoke quote, however, it would be best to send them an email or give them a call.
From this table, you can discover that Regus Malaysia’s shared and custom office spaces start at RM370 per person per month, which already includes furniture, services and utility, and reliable staff.
That gives you a lot more savings than the industry standard with an average price of RM6 to RM12.50 per square foot without the extras we noted or only with cheap furniture and a few amenities.
To illustrate our point, compare just paying RM370 a month from Regus to RM6,000 a month of most companies (let’s say the office space costs 6 per square foot and is 1,000 sq ft in size).
Even if you multiply 370 by 4, say because four people will work for you, that’s RM1,480 a month—which is still a long shot from RM6,000 a month of most office rental companies.
Is Choosing Regus MY Worth It?
Although there are lots of coworking spaces in Malaysia, Regus stands out from the rest. Firstly, they have nice and spacious office spaces compared to others’ cramped and untidy ones.
You may be lucky enough to work in an office or shared space with a breathtaking view. If your eyes become tired from the PC screen, all you might have to do is look towards the window.
Secondly, as opposed to other firms, you’ll be able to customise your workplace to your preference or switch to a bigger office or location when you need it.
They have all the essentials covered, including office furniture, video conference devices, consistent and reliable Wi-Fi, etc. They even throw in other facilities too like coffee-making stations, which is a huge bonus for us.
Their customer service is also very good here. However, very few clients complained about the personnel not greeting them with a smile or helping them deal with a certain property issue.
Another unbeatable perk is their thousands of locations in over 120 countries. That means that you can travel to most cities or towns, and rent their office or space to work from there. Lastly, their office space rental costs are decent, ranging from RM370 to RM700 per person per month compared to most companies that typically charge no lower than RM600 per desk.
Conclusion
On the whole, we give Regus Malaysia our full recommendation. It’s an exciting place to work given its conducive environment, flexible choices, and wonderful and helpful staff.
No matter the status or size of your company, you can work here for as long as you want whilst paying less and growing your business as you go on.
That said, some locations are more expensive to rent than others, which means you’d have to carefully pick one that is within your budget.
Nevertheless, you get an edge with Regus because their monthly fee is all-inclusive of the furnishings, AV technology, and global lounge passes, amongst others, giving you great value for money.
So, you can go abroad on a business trip with your team and still have a place where you can work. And by doing this, you can work more productively and increase your clientele too!
